I bought my 'stang sight-unseen back in October based on an inventory listing on Fordvehicles.com, even before the car arrived at the dealer.

From the very low serial number, I figured the car was built during the first week of production, the week of 9/6/04. But what was the exact date?

Today I took it to the dealer for the first oil change, and to check out the strange ticking sound coming from the right rear section of the body. The dealership's computer system gave me the build date I was hoping for: September 10. Stang and I have the same birthday!

As far as the strange sound, I took the technician on a test drive, and the car did not disappoint. The noise began as I backed out of the parking space and kept up the whole time. The guy said "That would drive me nuts." I was told they've never heard anything like it, and didn't have enough time on a Saturday to find the cause. Also, by warming up inside the shop, the noise stopped (it only happens in temperatures below 50 degrees). They're giving me a loaner car during the week so they can spend more time hooking up an electronic sound detecting device to pinpoint the problem. I'll post an update when they've found the trouble. Wish me luck!

I'm impressed he can type

I could drive when I was 4 and 1/2 months but didn't learn to type until at least 5 :worship:

I think the same thing's going to happen to me. I ordered in November, so I'm probably going to get my build date around my b-day, May 30th!

Seriously, that's cool, I hope they get your problem straightened out.

Thanks for the well wishes, and the laughs

I grew very quickly! Actually, I was about 2-1/2 years old when the very first Mustang went on sale. My parents wouldn't let me have one back then, but I liked getting behind the wheel of my Dad's Falcon. I don't think I ever did reach the pedals in that car......

That's cool.
Now you can not get rid of her. It would be a bad omen.

I'm hoping to get mine picked up in March.

If it's the 29 then the 45th b-day.

If it's the 22nd thats the 25th anniversary. (not sure if I will still want to celebrate that years from now)
