I fought the law and....

went down to the court house today to take my chances and when they called me in the roll call the judge announced that they will be dismissing the charges because the officer had been transfered and will not be there. I was so ellated.
For those of you that remember I posted getting this ticket back in March...and a lot of you were wondering why I would fight it, well this is why....you might justget lucky or win on legal merits....either way its always worth the time to show up and roll the dice...IMO

oh this was the speeding on a relatively empty I-5 north bound late at night on a Tuesday and the cop came out of nowhere and said he paced me doing over a hundred but wrote me the ticket for 90, then asked if I could punch it when getting back on the freeway.

I got a ticket a couple years ago and fought it and WON. It's a great feeling. Best sight to help you beat those tickets is www.ticketassassin.com. I didn't even have to go to court! All done by mail here in California.

Congrats rrobello!
I was finally pulled over a few weeks ago (got my car 30 March). I was comig up on a stop light at a funky intersection. It is four lanes in the primary direction and also has a third lane to turn right into a huge truck stop. Unfortunately, this lane merges back to the center lane (aka: back to just two lanes South bound) VERY quickly after the light. Maybe 120 feet or less.
Well, I was coming up on all those cars in the inside two lanes and saw the empty turn/straight lane, so I pulled over into it still doing about 45 mph (the speed limit actually). For some reason, it is no problem getting ahead of everyone else from the light in my GT... Of course, this time the light went green just about the time I started passing stopped cars in the inner lanes (so I couldn't pull over). Decision: hit the brakes and wait for everyone to go through before I merge over or hit the gas and STILL get in front of everyone? Take a wild guess which pedel I hit... I ended up going through the intersetion (and this is a fairly rural intersection by the way. Not in the middle of town!) at about 60 mph.
Unfortunately, I happed to see a police cruser sitting in the inside lane two cars back from the front right as I went through the intersection. Nothing left to do but merge over (in front, of course!) and slow my butt down before he got in front of traffic and could use his radar. Needless to say, he hit his lights as soon as he was clear from traffic.
The fun part: after going through liscense/registration/insurance drill, he wanted to know why I was going so fast through the intersetion. I gave him the short story about the light turning green too quickly and not having a choice and he gave my stuff back and told me to slow it down.
Root cause: No goods on me. I was travelling slightly UNDER the speed limit when he finally got the radar on me. There is no way he could have accurately guestimated my speed as I went past him in the intersection with him stopped. No trip to the courthouse was necessary...

I did something similar to that once...I was speeding home at night and I saw I was gaining on a police car so I slowed down and stayed behind him, he kept slowing in hopes that I would pass and probably pull me over, but I stayed behind him long enough that he passed through an intersection and I quickly took the opportunity to turn left and go through the neighborhood the long way home, stupid me though sped through and it comes back out on the next street where I wouldve normally turn left and I approached that light and it started going yellow...I gased it to make it and I dont think I did (it was real close) well as I make that left turn I look to my right and the same cop was now sitting at that red light waiting for it to turn green to go the same direction I was. It did obviously and he got behind me and followed me the rest of the way home and pulled over right before I got there even though I had nothing wrong the whole time he was behind me. He comes up goes through the usual routine and goes back to his car, about half an hour later (not exagerating) he comes back up frustrated and tell me all the things I did wrong but that he couldnt give me a ticket because he couldnt prove it and let me go.

I just wish I could give tickets to cops every time I see them violate the law. Let's see, speeding (going home from work), running red lights, running red left turn lights, illegal parking (on and off the job), illegal U-turns, etc.
Heck, I wouldn't even have to HAVE a day job!

Sounds like your luck is good this week - buy a lottery ticket!

I got a ticket going up to Wyoming... then another on the way back not 3 minutes after I said, "Lets see if we can make it back without getting pulled over." it didn't happen.... THEN, the next day (4th of July) I got a $1000.00 ticket for fireworks. The donkey named jack didn't even see me lighting anything.... or anyone else for that matter. He didn't care... he was just serving a complaint from one of the neighbors who called as soon as they got done lighting their fireworks. What a bunch of A holes... they call the cops at least once a week... but yeah, anyways.... hope you do better with the lotto ... seein' as your luck was a different kind.
I wonder if ticketassasin has anything to say about fire code violations... or is it just traffic tickets.

The last two times I got pulled over I got a warning only for the first one and on the second, I went to the JPs office and he gave me deferred adjudication (doesn't show up on my record IF I don't get another ticket for 90 days) but I did have to pay court costs.

Congrats!!
I got my first ticket in 15 years on Saturday on the way to the Mooresville Cruise in. I am going to go to defensive driving school to keep the points from showing up but will still have to pay the fine. $125 and $76 for the class.

FYI: The points won't show up on your license, but the ticket will still show up on your motor vehicle report. Saving the points only helps by keeping your license from getting suspended for getting too many points. If you know you'll never rack up that many points, then taking the class might be a waste of time because the ticket doesn't get removed from your record and your insurance will probably still take a hit if they re-run your MVR at your next renewal.

eh...that's not correct.
Taking traffic school removes the points from your record, and yes they will still be on your confidential driver record. Insurance companies only have access to your public driving record...NOT your confidential one. If you take traffic school, you keep the insurance companies from finding out...AND also removing a point from your record.
