Nice find.

What Shaker 1000?

Wonder what/if any mods were done to it.

Since Ford does not make a S-197 police interceptor, Passaic County most likely purchased a GT and just outfitted it as a high speed interceptor (highway patrol style car). There's a good chance it has a Shaker 500 or 1000 with the IUP and leather seats (unless they factory ordered it as a stripper GT).

That car's pretty cool. I'd rather get pulled over by that thing than an Impala. ...And yeah, what Shaker? Maybe he read the poster's sig and got confused?

The Shaker 1000 is heavier than the 500. I can tell by the way the car is setting that it has the 1000...

I found this online, it doesn't look like they had that many options.

Authorizing an award of contract to Winner Ford, Cherry Hill, NJ for the furnish and delivery of One (1) 2005 Ford Mustang GT Deluxe or Equal for the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of approximately, $25,858.00, as set forth in the attached memorandum and pursuant to their bid of March 1, 2005.
There's a black Charger cop car in the next town over from me and whenever I drive through there I always have this feeling he would love to chase down my car.

FYI, License plates in NJ:

CG = County Goverment (County cops or county officials)
MG = Municipal Government (Local cops or local water inspection or local tax collector, etc...)
SG = State Government (State Troopers or State-funded campus police, like NJIT/Rutgers)

I haven't figured out the pattern in MI yet, except i know the "X" in the middle of the plate could mean police or a school bus!

I currently live in Passaic County and I saw that Stang about 3 months ago in Hawthorne.. if you notice on the back bumper it says "this car was purchased with seized illegal funds".. or somethin close to that.. actually pretty much all of Passaic County's vehicles were purchased with seized funds including their Expeditions and other SUVs.. but that looks like you're out on Route 23 right?

The Charger Police models are available in V6 or w/ the 5.7 V8, but the latter is about $30k USD. If it was a highway patrol unit, it may have been a 5.7 V8 bought using seized funds. If it was a city patrol car, chances are it is a V6 model.

There is no factory Mustang police car, just Mustangs outfitted for police use. Chevy has its Impala and RWD Tahoe, Ford has its Crown Vic, and Dodge has its Charger. Soon, the Impala will become RWD and get a LSx V8 engine (2009).

NYPD has 10 HEMIs and 5 V6s.

I've never seen one though and I work in the city.

Actually Ford has the Crown Vic, the Explorer, and the Expedetion available as a Police Package. Nothing too different on the Explorer and Expedition though, the Crown Vic is signifigantly different than it's civillian counterpart.

Partially Correct. The Explorer and Expedition are special service units (not rated for high speed or pursuits, hence their similarities to the non-police versions). The Impala, Charger, and Crown Vic are rated for normal patrol duty (highway service and city patrol). The new 2007-up 2WD Tahoes are now rated for normal patrol duty and outrun, outhandle, and outbrake the 2007 Ford CVPI.

The Ford CVPI has a few revised parts for the suspension, aluminum driveshaft, engine oil cooler, 200A alternator, and 17" steel wheels. It also has a Marauder-style airbox and MAF to make 250 hp (instead of 239 hp) (starting in 2004). The 2006-up CVPI w/ 3.55s is speed limited to a pitiful 120 mph due to excessive driveline vibrations. Ford has used the AMMX shaft for the 99-00 CVPIs w/ 3.55s, but Ford switched back to regular aluminum for 01.5-up. Popular Science did a test and found the Handling Package / LX Sport Crown Vic to outrun and outhandle the Police Interceptor. Keep in mind the CVPI was never designed for handling or performance. It was just designed to last 100,000 miles within 1-3 years before the PDs have to get rid of them due to insurance reasons. They then live on to 300k-500k miles as taxi cabs. Ford started using a tachometer in the 2006 model year and switched to the different airbox in 2004 mainly to try and compete with the Chargers. In the special Ford police fleet manager meetings, Ford recommended buying the Dodge Charger 5.7 Police Package if high speed pursuits were a factor in a PD's purchasing decision. It took Ford only 27 years to put a tach into the Clown Brick! Then again it's the same company that installed a 180 hp 351W into the police cars in the late 80s! Bleeeeech!!
