Something that came to light to me as I pulled out of Mickey Ds drive thru...how good are those cup holders in the Mustang? They look plenty deep (even deeper if you remove the fake floor on the one), but I just wanna hear from those that have used them.

That's one thing I loathe about my current car, the single, shallow, completely in the way of the shifter cup holder. You have to hold the drink in corners (turning at an intersection) and have to place your arm up and over the drink to shift.

Also...would anybody mind posting a pic of say an average size drink (or coke can) in the cupholder?

I don't have any pics, but they arent completely in the way. Just in the way enough to be annoying. It was bad enough I had food in my car.

I think its a MAJOR improvement over my 99GT. In that one, I could only put a coke can in the front cupholder, because it would interfere with the shifter otherwise. In the 05, they are really deep, hold a good variety of sizes... However, if you like to rest your arm on the center console, and shift, anything in those cubbies will get in the way.

Completely in the way. Just got back from lunch and was complaining about it not more than 5 minutes ago.

Minor detail, it's something I "might" be able to live with.

Very annoying. Especially with the large plastic coffee refill containers. I wish there were cup holders in the doors integrated into the map pockets as I have seen in other vehicles.

I'm happy with mine. A 12oz can fits perfect in the front cupholder and a 32oz cup fits well in the back holder with the straw being the only annoying part in the way. Neither one slips or slides around which is more than I can say for the ones that were in my Supercrew.

I'm with you, what are you people doing with potentially staining substances in your Mustangs

jk, maybe we need to get the kind we had when I was a kid (long before they were built into the car) that just sit in the window and rest against the door panel!

The cup holders are a little annoying if using the armrest and shifting esp if it is a tall bottle ort something, it is just enough to be annoying, however it is better than not having any, this is my first vehicle w/ cupholders so i guess i cant complain

First problem is going to Mcdonalds. Oh wait, no In-N-Out?

They are fine, although the only time I used them was to store a small water bottle before I went running. To think someone would eat food and/or drink in a car!

Ya...apparantly we're not as blessed in Texas for some choice fast-food burgers as those in California.

And I think a cup holder is safer than in between the legs when you're picking up food. :P ... especially with a stick.

no food or drink in my stang. just the occasional can of unopened red bull that i take to my hockey games with me. thats it. and that sits deeply in the cupholder with my sirius tuner next to it in the other. no interference whatsoever with resting my arm on the console cover and shifting at all.

Should be fine as long as you don't have a 64 OZ cup and aren't racing. Yeah I know that second part is hard not to do. Just wait until you finish your food and drink (OUTSIDE OF THE CAR!). Then go back to enjoying yourself and I’ll send you a double-double by mail.

Fit's a 12oz just fine... the beer cap can scratch your arm while you're shifting though. Unfortunately, they're too small to fit my 40oz.
