Thumbs up

I'm the owner of a 2003 V6 and I love my car. But, as perfect as it is there is one thing I dislike about it. THE FREAKIN SEATBELTS!!! They always get twisted and never want to retract properly because the belt never stays inside the belt guide. Has this problem carried over into the 05 breeding line?

No belt guide @ the top of the seat, just a strap @ the base of the seat.
With the B pillar so far back, it will take some getting used to it -previous vehicles were 4 doors & Jeeps...

yeah, you can't reach over your shoulder, and grab the belt. Rather you have to do an underhand scoop of the belt, it isn't to difficult to accomplish, but it does take some getting used to.

Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding, Ding... difficult to grab? That's why they have that seatbelt reminder so you're sure to practice reaching for it.

I hate the belt guide at the top of the seat. Had one in my 03 and still have one in my 02. UGLY. :notnice: The 05 is an improvement to rid itself of the ugly eyelets!

I am on my third SN-95 (89k, 131k, & 13k so far), and have NEVER had any of the seat belt issues everyone complains about !! My only complaint was that the normal belt tension while driving would irritate my shoulder. To relieve the iritating tension on my '94 & '98, I had a small Quick-Grip woodworkers spring clamp that I would put on the belt and it would register in the belt guide you all are also complaining about. This was changed sometime between '98 and '04 as the lessened tension now does not bother me anymore. I'm so glad I don't have to monkey around with that anymore !!

When looking for better seats for my '04, one of the reasons I did not go aftermarket was the fact that they did NOT have this ugly but functional belt guide !! The other reason was no one was offering a front & rear matching set except Saleen ($2400 + shipping from CA. was out of the question). Then came Ford Motorsport (aka FRPP) offering the O.E. 2004 Cobra Leather F&R seat set. Got these seats for $1850 delivered !! Not too bad when at the time there was a barely used set out of a 2003 on e-bay that went for over $1900 + s&h.

Sorry for the rambling, but I think the fact that the 2005 does not have a belt guide on the seats (however ugly it may be) would iritate me as well. Have yet to even sit in one, so I can't say for sure.

nope, normal belt tension isn't an issue at all. The only "problem" if you call it that, is having to reach behind ya to get it. If you're that kind of person who can't live with that as an inconvenience, well the 2005 mustang isn't the car for you I guess.

The seatbelt doesn't get twisted but it does tend to rub against my neck when I'm driving. I'm 5'7", not short or anything. It's only noticable when my neck is bare without a jacket. But that's a small meaningless complaint.

I like the new lower seat belt guide. It's easy to reach for and to use. The belt tension is good and fits me well (5' 10"). It's significantly better than the 3-point belts I retrofitted into my '69 daily driver that the '05 replaced.

Glad to hear there are no apparent problems with the new seat belts. I can't stand mine, always twisted, won't retract, everytime I get out I have to push the belt back in the car so it doesn't get caught in the closed door. Bad seatbelt, bad, BAD!!!

But I didn't have any problems with it for a while after I first got it, so lets wait and see on the new ones.

I am so glad someone else has this issue with the previous Stangs. My 99GT would drive me batsheet every day. It would get caught up on itself in the loop on the side of the car, and I didnt even bother putting the thing in the belt guide on the seat, it would make moving the seat a nightmare. If I didnt pull the belt out reeeeaaaaaalllll slow, it would twist, and I would be stuck trying to fix it for 30 mins.

My 05, no probs! Didnt even notice a difference in getting to it to pull it on either. Since I never used the belt guide in my 99, I always reached down and back.
