99-01 lincoln navigator and ... that would be it.

but insurance is high on navigator, and gas mileage is low.

Insurance will be high and gas mileage low on the 05 as well ...

You've made 519 posts on this site and don't know the highs and lows by now? Thats a little weird ..

Basically the only real knock reviewers have had is no IRS. However the people that own one and have posted haven't complained about that ...

also, you aren't going to get a 100% true review of the car from a forum member, this is a mustang enthusiast site, after all. i would check out the review section of this forum if you want (somewhat) unbiased opinions

Comparing Navigator and Mustang?

Don't work. I have Explorer, does not compare.

You have to figure what you need the vehicle for first. Let's face it Mustang is not a utility car. Not suited to frequently transport many passengers, or things. If you need to do either, you have your answer.

I could not get the Mustang, without keeping my Explorer. Whether, it be kids, skiing, biking, vacations or other sports - - mustang would not cut it in my opinion.

OK, here is how things works.

I'm 20 years old college student. I really wanted Navigator, even test drove few of them, and I was readdy to buy one. But high insurance (over $400 a month compared to $100 a month for my current Mustang) and high prices of gas (currently $2.50 a gallon) made me change my mind.

So, I decided to go with next best thing - Ford Mustang. Now, I know I can't compare muscle car with luxury SUV, but Navigator is most likely out of picture. Maybe one day when I'm out of college gas prices and high insurance wouldn't matter to me, but now it does. Explorer is OK too, but expensive (cheapest new Explorer starts at $26,000).

I still didn't saw new Mustang in person (can't find one in Milwaukee area), but other than those 2 vehicles there is no car on the market that I really like.

I only have 2 requirements for 2005 Mustang V6: red and 5-speed manual transmission. I don't want any other option. I guess cd player, everything power, ac ... are standard features. My 00 Mustang V6 have that, so 05 Mustang V6 have to have it too.

Please don't start with that. I've been ask that question many times.

No, I'm not (I wish I live on west coast, but I don't). Can a non-rapper white guy on east coast own a luxury SUV?

Or is that just for people like B-Rad from Malibu's Most Wanted?

If you're a single 20-somthing male without the need to haul a lot of passengers, I think the choice is obvious. The Mustang has endured for over 40 years for many reasons, and when you see the S197 in person, you'll understand why. I don't see people stopping in traffic to look at any new SUV. Also, the resale value will be significantly higher and the cost of ownership significantly less. The SUV market is taking a huge hit with the ever increasing price of gas.

None of this all adds up well for me. If someone is in the market for a $45,000+ SUV (such as the Navigator) why would that same person worry at all about gas and or insurance? It's one of the most expensive non-premium level vehicles (ie BMW, Lexus etc) you can buy. To me, someone considering something that costs d amn near 50Gs shouldn't worry at all about insurance and gas.

What am I missing?

Makes more sense. Let's see, a brand new Mustang GT or a 5 year old battleship that needs it's own tanker.

HMMMMMMMMM. Decisions decisions.

I can get a new Mustang GT loaded, OR a 1974 Piper Cherokee 160 with the better wing then the '75-up, with fresh paint and engine and GPS, only 3600 TTAF hours for $28k. What should I get................

The older nav/expy platform is a clumsy bulky thing with recip ball steering and quite a few drivetrain problems and a lousy 3rd row seat. AND its out of warranty.............hmmmm where do I sign?
