I had a redfire GT on order and I'm wondering if the color makes any difference for you guys that have them. Even if you don't have red, please chime in. Do you usually just get warnings? I'd love to know.

I have a redfire. Haven't been pulled over yet, but I've only had it three weeks. It definatly is hard to slow down though. This car is just so much fun to drive.

Got pulled over this past weekend by a punk NJ kid going to Atlantic City. Pulled me out of a line of close to 10 cars, I was in the middle. But because I drive a new black '05 mustang, I was obviously going the fastest....sure

Three times here

But, no tickets!

I think they just wanted a closer look at the car. (It was just 10 to 15 miles over) They just asked me to slow down abit. They loved the car!!!

I've been pulled over once. However, it was TOTALLY my fault, as I totally blew a stop sign on a lonely country road. Only other person nearby was a Sheriff's Deputy about a 1/2 mile away who witnessed it. Just a warning was issued.

However, I sorta pulled over a guy in a new Satin Silver Roush last week. I waited til he pulled into a parking lot and told him he didn't do anything wrong, I just wanted to check out the car. He was MORE than happy to show it off, and rightly so, its a nice ride.

Not pulled over yet but it's been parked for the last 3 months. Said it once and I will say it again, get a GOOD radar detector. Has saved my butt a couple of times.

Haven't received mine yet. But when I got my last baby for graduation (pictures below) in 2000, I got 5 tickets in 8 months. I had never received a ticket in my life upto that point. The worst was when I was doing 112 mph in a 60 going across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and onto I-5 at night and it was raining like crazy. The cop pulled me over and was like "GIVE ME YOUR KEYS, GET OUT OF THE CAR" I believe he thought I was drunk (which I wasn't). He had me on the side of the freeway getting soaked for 1 hour writing the ticket and when he came back he said "I'm sorry about the delay sir, everything checks out. Were you trying to get home before your parents found out you were gone?" Hah one of those youthful moments you never forget. BTW, this car has literally double the horsepower, so the first thing I did, even while my car is on order, is get an Escort Passport 8500. I'll never make those mistakes again.

If a cop pulled me over just to look over the car would get a polite phone call to their supervisor.

Dustin, I have been driving red Mustang GTs daily for the last 13 years, and I've been pulled over exactly once. That one time was at night, and I thought my headlights were on, but only the parking lights were on. I got a warning. Never a ticket in 13 years of driving red Mustang GTs.

In my experience, if you don't give the cops a reason to pull you over, they won't. But that's just my experience.

One poster here told me that if there are a line of cars speeding on the highway, and you are the red Mustang GT in the middle of the line, then you are more likely to get pulled over than the other cars. That may or not be true - I don't know... I've also heard if there are a line of cars speeding, and you are in the middle of that line as the only out-of-state car, then you'll be the one to be pulled over. Again, that may or may not be true.

In any case, if there's no reason for the man to pull you over, in my experience, you won't get pulled over, even with a red Mustang GT.

My '97 Cobra attracted cops like bees to honey. Not sure why, it was black but man they loved it.

One night I pulled out onto a local highway here in my area and gunned it. From the point where I started to the point where the cop was wasn't very far at all...but I had her up to about 86.

When he finally caught up to me, he asked me where I had started. I told him and his exact words were "You got that car going that fast from that point??!"

I guess my honestly must've impressed him. Got off with a warning.

It's a myth that red cars get pulled over more than any other car. Ya just have to be smart when to mess around. If your crusin down the high way doin 90 your getting a ticket . most high speed runs are done in a 1/4 mile distance. Know when to get your car side ways. I have owned 5 mustangs in the last16 yearsand only got 1 speeding ticket out of state. As long as your smart about your crazy drivin , you will never get a ticket. Everybody knows the area they drive in.Don't be a show off and you'll be ticket free. After drivin the mustang for so long , I know exactly how far I can push the car. I know how fast i can get the car sideways around turns. I feel that I have total control of my car. For the new mustang owners out there. The mustang is like no other car you have driven. It takes time before you get to know it. I would say after a year of pushing it and know what the car will and will not do you'll become a much smarter driver. So here is my advice. Don't be like these asses cruisin at 90-100. I f ya want to get some speed, find a safe area and do a 1/4 - 1/2 mile run. Find roads that you can get the car sideways and stay out of trouble.

3 times in my old 03 centennial edition vert GT. 3 warnings, guilty two of the times. One of those very similar to 97svtgoin05gt's story, except I got up to 60 real fast on a 45mph posted rd.

Pull off the road quickly...
Agree with the officer, be friendly. Offer the suggestion of an excuse but always end it with "but you are right officer." Do not push them.

Since my last ticket in 1997, seven warnings no tickets. My 2 cents.

I haven't been pulled over since I had my '98 Mystique in 2000 or so. I played it smart with the '02 Ranger and never got pulled over in that, even though I would have deserved it a few times. I'm still learning this car so I'm driving it nice most of the time. I've never owned a sports car before.

10 years running. Not bad. I started driving in October 1961 and have never been pulled over. That's almost 44 years. I'm usually 10+ the limit, do not use a radar detector, and have been 135 (a ZX-6 sport bike and a 1997 Z28), 125 (a 1978 Z28 and a 1984 Supra), etc. On Christmas Eve 1965 I averaged 95 mph between Birmingham and Nashville (about 150 miles.) Most egregious offense ever? 125 in a 35 zone. Just call me "Lucky."

One of the "benefits" of being an old timer is perspective, and it's my observation that it's getting harder every year to go really fast. There's too much traffic and too many cops. I'm pretty sure that my small town (Pelham) has more patrol cars now than the 10x bigger city of Birmingham had 40 years ago.

I've had my 2005 for a month and the fastest I've been was 90 (blowing past a minivan that was doing its level best to have an unprovoked wreck on I20.) I doubt that I'll ever top 100.

Yeah, yeah, I'm "old." An ancient 58. But since Paul Newman drove in the 24 Hours of Daytona this year at age 80, I think I've got a few more good year left. (And so far, no one has to help me in and out of my car.)

By the way, how light was traffic 40 years ago? In 1966 we used to go out on I20 between Birmingham and Tuscaloosa to do 0-60 runs. We'd come to a full stop on the freeway, then run 0-60 against a stopwatch. These days, if you came to a stop on I20, you'd be road kill.

Driving a big yellow cop magnet keeps me careful.
Had it over 90 once trying to catch up to a white 05 gt on 65........caught up and slowed down. Peed myself a little that night.

Born and raised in Pelham......Its a huge speeding ticket nowadays.....But lucky me...... no tickets in Pelham ever
