How far down does the 2 week break in July 'trickle down'?

This is a question for the Ford employees who hang out here, I s'pose. What is the first day of the two week shutdown? Is it July 3rd? And if so, is it just the plant that closes or all everything down line? For instance:

If a 'Stang departs on a rail car June 30th and arrives at Camp ItchyGitchyNoonyWawa, Texas on July 5th, I would think they would have to unload it off the rail car, right? (Someone has to ask the stupid question on this site. Might as well be me.)

AND, now that it sits in the lot having come off the rail car, the union drivers who drive the carriers are not part of the the 'two week' break, right? They would be working their butts off to clear the lot even though AAI is on break. Right? I would hope the locals aren't on siesta just because the plant closes.

Flame suit --- ON!

The plant shutdown does not affect cars that are already in transit. If your car is not shipped before the shutdown though, it isn't going anywhere!

Do you know this as a fact or is it just what you think? Reason I ask is on the Blueovalforums.com website a factory guy said that the 2 are not related and if it is awaiting shipment it will go even though the assembly line is down. Said something about all the cars will be gone by the time the line starts back up.

I do not know anything as a fact only what I read on the website. Right now the site is not working so I cannot look for the thread.

I am hoping you are wrong but my gut feeling is you may be right.

I dunno.

As other people have already said...if the car has been shipped prior to the AAI shutdown you have nothing to worry about.
I have an 05 Mustang GT that was built/shipped on 12/14/04 and delivered on 12/28/04 (delivery was during the two-week AAI shutdown)

If the car is on a railcar or truck before the plant shuts down you have a good chance of getting the car even though the plant is closed.

Not trying to say this is the 100% correct answer but I just got off the phone with an analyst from the VOPC system and they told me that a decision was made to continue shipping through the break because of the huge backlog they have. I then called back about 10 mins later and talked to another analyst who told me the same thing.

So basically.... who knows for sure.

Like several of us said here already...if the car has been released from the plant for shipping BEFORE the shutdown then the car will ship.
If for some reason the car has not been released (quality hold, car not completed) prior to the plant shutdown you would have to wait until the plant opens again.

Many of us have been through this (waiting for our car to be built/shipped then faced with delays in production, parts shortages and quality holds...then to top it off the dreaded plant closure where we wonder if our car will make it out before shutdown or not).

I can only tell you what I was told when I was waiting for my car to arrive...it will get here when it gets here...no matter how stressed out you are isn't going to make it come any faster.

Question for you-
Has your car been built and shipped yet? If so don't worry about it as it's on it's way.
If not, check with VOPC on Monday and see what they say.

I read it on the internet so it's got to be true LOL! I really don't know for sure, I'm just speaking as yet another person waiting for their '07 to filter through the system. You would think they'd want to go ahead and clear out whatever is waiting to be shipped as I'm sure the dealerships are chomping at the bit to get some Mustangs to sell. All the dealerships around here have very few '06 Mustangs left. Let's hope you read the right info and I didn't! Of course I'm not sure if that helps me because I don't even know if my car has been built (was supposed to be built this week).

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to start an argument or anything I am just curious, plus I have alot of time on my hands. I am actually not stressed out or worried at all because I know someday I will get my car. I do know it was built already and released from the plant so that is encouraging.

Reason I am so curious and excited about the process is that I have never ordered a car before so this is all new. I have learned a ton from the folks at Blueovalforums.com and it has helped me track my cars progress.

I am one of the very few who have no room whatsoever to complain about how long it is talking since I just ordered my car on June 12 and my dealer ETA is July 9. I feel bad for the folks who ordered back in April expecting an early June delivery and are STILL waiting and some have not even been built yet. That really sucks and I sure hope things speed up for them soon.

Bottom line is I am a lover, not a fighter!!

Imagine ordering the car 3/13, getting the VIN on 4/13, seeing the car built on 6/6... and having the ERL tell me it will arrive the week of 7/6.

I may not be the first to receive my Grabbah, Grabbah, but I'll tell you this. I'm the King of Patience. (OK, maybe a tie for KING with ISELLFORD.)

The phone call from my dealer will be like this:

I have learned alot from this experience and I would suggest to Ford if I could to build the cars in the order the order is received. That seems fair to me. But they probably would not listen to me, I am just a consumer.

Good Luck,
Bob

I placed my order 06-09 and it was due to be built this week (as of early last week) and received the 3rd week of July. The dealership said they managed to get a high priority on it. I don't know what the criteria is for high versus low, I'm guessing it has to do with the dealership's volume. But I'm not getting anxious about it, I have my '05 to drive until the '07 arrives

Holy cow that's a long wait! Almost as long as it took my Harley back in '92!

Tres - I ordered my GT on the exact same day, and I am told that I should also receive it in the 3rd week of July, so maybe the dealer is telling me the truth. However, I'll believe it when I see it!

It's cool to think that our cars could be right next to each other on the assembly line We'll have to compare VIN numbers when we get the cars!

Wow, you'll must have some pull. I ordered my Windveil Blue Deluxe/5 speed on 6/15, when I call the magic number all I get is the car is clear and not serialize. I have a priority of 10 from my Dealer and I have brought or lease several cars and trucks from him. He's also the Manager of new car sales and ordering. So I wouldn't think he is screwing me around. I got the x-plan pricing (work at a steel mill driving a Locomotive in the Railyard) with $300 down to order.
I do see several loaded Railcar Trains with new cars going west bound everyday but you can't tell the make or model. Guess I'll wait out the 2 week shut down and try again at the end of July

Thanks, I have always loved Road Runners and the 70 is my favorite. Here are a few pics from about 2 years ago and you can see more on my website (www.70roadrunner.com). It has a 383 engine with a pistol grip shifted 4 speed and 3:55 gears. I am in the middle of a rotisserie restoration on her and hopefully she will be back on the street soon.

Thanks,
Bob

You should have been here back in 04 when people had waits anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months if not longer to get their car.
People ordered in April/May (maybe earlier) and had to wait until November/December in some cases to take delivery.
In my case I waited almost 9 weeks (ordered 10/20/04, picked it up 12/28/04) for my car to arrive, so to have a time frame from order to delivery of just under a month is great.
My 05 was the 1st car I ever ordered, and like you I was curious as to what to expect in the ordering to delivery process.
The wait seemed like it was never going to end, but when it finally did and I drove the car home the long wait seemed to go away.

In your case you have an ETA of July 9 so your wait is almost over.
