Does anyone know of a way to disable the obnoxious chirp the horn makes when you set the alarm?

I should not chirp if you just press the button once.

Yup, just lock the door. You don't have to hit the lock button twice to enable the alarm. It's automatically enabled when you lock the door.

The only time mine chirps is when I hit the lock button twice.

Dealer told me you have to hit the button twice to enable the alarm, and that once only locks it.

Once locks it and then there is a 30 second or 1 minute delay and then the car's alarm sets and chirps (honks) if you press the lock button twice it locks and enables the alarm right away.

I love it when there are conflicting answers, lets get more definitive answers. Does once push just lock the doors and no alarm, will the car arm itself, if it does chirp on its own can this be disabled. I know the answer can be found here.

Here's an idea. Read the owners manual. Look at page 67 and 68. Press the lock button once to lock all of the doors. Press it a second time to confirm that all doors are closed and locked. The horn will chirp once confirming they are locked and the hood and trunk are closed. If any doors are open or the hood and trunk are open the horn will chirp twice.

FYI, lights will also flash on cars that do not have the anti-theft option. On vehicles that do not have anti-theft, if you press the lock button twice the horn will beep twice only if you have left a door, trunk or hood open. The lights still will not flash.

They come with a manual???? Next thing you will say is that products come with instructions on how to assemble or that it is possible to stop and ask for directions. Thanks for all the input on this matter.

Sorry, I just was answering the post above where he mentioned the alarm, I assumed it was the active anti-theft.

I don't feel like going out to the car a getting the manual to verify this, but if I remember correctly with active alarm the alarm is armed when you turn off the ignition switch. I was tring to turn off the thing because mine goes off in the middle of the night inside a locked garage.

My owners manual is too far away to check, but I believe the car has to be locked for it to arm or everytime you went to get into the car, your alarm would sound. You may need to get yours checked out.

You must have a mouse or cat in your garage!

And for those who do not want to walk outside to the car, you can download a copy of the owners manual in pdf format from this site. I would post the link if i knew how. Maybe there is a manual... somewhere.....to tell me how?

There is also a manual on the CD that came with the paper manual. It's an interactive CD.
