I believe the date found on the driver door jamb VIN tag is the build date - it certainly is on my 2006 Legend Lime GT. The date code format on the driver door jamb sticker is YYYYMMDD

I'd have to see that because every one I've seen (incuding trucks & other cars) all have only the month and the year. MM/YY

Are you sure you're looking in the right place?

yep, my 06 only has MM/YY 09/05 I would really like to know the date too as its not on the Air bag recall receipt. 1ZVFT80N865123825 Please.

I know it was built 09/05 and first bought 12/05. Which means that I have till 12/08 to find ANY thing wrong with it before the warrantee is up.

they usually are on the door jam and in a code of some say. not staing month or year but just all ran together. like tippetts said. i used to work at a car auction at the check in and read prob 100 or more vins a day to put in system. that was the way most of them were.

tippets is 100% correct. Look at the bottom of the door label.. in the middle there is a 13 digit number starting with a 1.. After the one is the year (2006).. next 2 digits is the month(10)... next 2 digits is the day(18)... last 4 digits don't mean anything..
This into came off a car I saw on ebay..

There ya have it. You CAN tell the actual day made by the door sticker..

Not trying to stir anything up, but I'm curious as to why you guys care what the build date for your car is? Does it really matter?

There is still a small discrepancy (at least in my case). According to my OASIS REPORT, my vehicle Build Date is: 5/03/2006. The 13 digit number on my driver's door jam shows the Build Date as: 5/02/2006. Anyone know why the 1 day difference between the two? Thanks.

I ran your VIN & it matches.
Looks like it might be a hit or miss thing.
I'll check mine tonight.

Mine says 2/25/05, but the build date was 2/28/05. So it looks like it's only a coincidence when it matches the build date exactly.

Since 2/25 was a Friday and 2/28 was a Monday, maybe the door sticker date is when the build was started. Most of our Mustangs aren't started and finished on the same day, but what if you car was the first one to start to go down the line on a particluar day. Is it possible it got finished that same day? That would account for all the dates shown in this thread. All of them are either the same as the build day or the day before.

I always thought it was the date on the sticker on the bottom of board that covers the spare tire, mine had a date of Friday 09/09/2005. The sticker on the door jamb is 09/10/2005 which is a Saturday. My VIN is 1ZVHT82H765121130.

I take it, you have never heard the ol saying... Never buy a car that was built on a Friday!!! I assume the meaning if the saying is that peeps wanna get outta the place so the car is finished haphazardly.... Dont know if its true or not...
