Question Homelink mirror

Has anybody messed with the Homelink option on the 07,s ( or 06 and 05 if available ) ? I live in a gated commiunity, hope it works on our gate, how do you program it, also works for garage door openers from what i've read. What are the other uses? Comments? info? etc?

it's an option, at least in canada it is. I think there are four different mirror options here, regular mirror, compass mirror, compass and thermometer mirror, and homelink mirror with compass which doesnt have the thermometer.

I think it is part of the comfort group with the heated seats. I remember ordering it, but don't see it on the order sheet, think it was part of a package.

The auto dim/compass mirror is available as part of that package but I don't think that mirror has Homelink.

Yea, that's what i thought....cause the manual doesn't even specify homelink on it.

No homelink. Drove a GT/CS this weekend with the comfort package, and the mirror does NOT have homelink. It does have auto-dimm and compass.

I think there's a thread around of someone trying to install the Homelink mirror on an '07, and the wiring is different, or something. I dont' remember where I saw that.

There is no homelink option from the factory it is however available as an accessory from your dealer . I have one installed and it works great. It is supost to work on gates and garage doors . It should work if your gate operates from a wireless remote which you will need to program one of the homelink buttons on the mirror. There are three buttons on the mirror for different gates or doors.

What redmsgt said. My bride got me the same mirror for Christmas (from our man Kevin in CA). Had teh dealer install it. Homelink for both garage doors, compass and thermometer, and auto-dimming all in one package.

What's the one made for another brand (Suzuki maybe?) that is the exact same mirror as ours but a LOT cheaper than Ford's?

EDIT:
It's a Subaru mirror. Looking for the part number.

EDIT2: Found it. H501SAG010
Exact same mirror but only $190 for homelink, autodim & compass. No temp.

The Mazda6 homelink mirror also works (but I believe it's more than the Subaru mirror):

The photo on the page looks weird because it's displayed in the wrong width. Click on the image to see it in the correct resolution.

I swapped out the Auto-Dimming Mirror w/Compass, Temp, and Homelink from my 06 GT when I traded for a 07 GT/CS. The service dept discovered that due to a change in the wiring for the 07's, the Homelink is currently unavailable for installation. I'm told that an adaptor kit is needed, and will be available in a few weeks.

The mirror currently sits in a box on my workbench. While I miss the Homelink features, along with the the temp, I've noticed that the existing Auto-Dimming Mirror w/Compass is much darker.

If you don't mind, would you check with your dealer to see if they have heard the same story? Thanks...

Homelink

I was able to find 2 Homelink mirrors (one with Auto-dim, the other plus compass) in a local junk yard, 25.00 each mirror. One came out of a Mazda Tribute (compass) the other from a Dodge Sebring . There are plenty of sellers on Ebay, (search under "Homelink") I tried to retro fit a visor set-up but no luck. The wiring is very simple (hot, switched hot, backup lites and ground), son it should be an easy install in the 07, you just have to do a little wire search. I was going to buy one new from Ford (300.00+) but I checked with Mazda and new one was about a 100.00 cheaper, exact same item, same box, just a Mazda number placed over a Ford PN. Do some yard searching, remember to pull the wire/plug hookup and the wire loom cover that extends from the mirror to the headliner. Good luck!
