Holding Lot Emptied Out Today
I live half way between the factory and one of the large holding lots they use, I noticed a great deal of 2005 Mustang traffic travelling from the holding lot, back to the plant today, all day actually. When I went to work I noticed the "parade" of Mustangs heading back towards the plant and again after work this afternoon. I rode by the holding lot on King Road and it was completely emptied out. This lot has held hundreds of Mustangs the past couple months.
I'm not sure what this means, but a lot of brand new Mustangs were in motion today, heading for somewhere, possibly trucks or trains. Perhaps this will give some people some hope. Not me, mine's not built yet

Are they going back to the plant or train yard?
Not good news if they are going back to the plant.

Maybe someone who works there can let us know why they were moved, perhaps they catch different trains closer to the plant, because this lot is also very near train tracks. Can't understand why there emptied it out, MANY were there. Also, wow, those guys like to drive these cars! Passing them at the lights, I could hear the stereos on loud and they don't exactly drive them slow.
Well, technically the ERL told me that my car hopped a train Sunday. However, knowing my luck, this is incorrect information, and my car was one of the cars that made the round trip from the holding lot to the plant, where 3 or 4 guys piled into it to head back to the holding lot to drive more cars back, and continued throughout the day.
I can just see it now, "Uh Sean, you're car has arrived here at the dealership. The tires are bald, speakers are blown, we are almost finished cleaning the cherry Slurpee mix out of the carpet, and it will cost you $125 to replace the transmission fluid. It's due for service and is no longer covered under warranty as your car now has 38,328 miles on it."

I hope this means that they are getting shipped. I found out today that mine is "bucked". They gave me an ETA of April 7th. If the cars are headed for the rail, maybe I'll get it sooner. Not too far from Flat Rock to St. Louis.
Oh well, guess we'll see. Anyway, I'm happy, at least I know mine is getting built. The dealer said he has to call 30+ people and tell them that their orders are not going to be 2005's. He said only 17% of the orders they took for Mustang GT's are getting built.

There's an area that has the screwed up ones.. and.. they crush them. Some are just the frames and shells.. some looked to be a full car.
Don't worry.. it's not in the holding lot areas at AAI.
Well, the fact that they all left the holding lot, I would think, is good news. At least they are not just all sitting there. Perhaps a bunch of rail cars became available, who knows? But I think it's positive.
I'll bet anyone $10,000 that they don't even strip off the IUP components before crushing them. "I got an order here that says crush it, so that's what I'm doing"
Pitiful... :notnice:

LOL, well, they were listening to the stereo loud, I could hear it passing them at the light and passing other at 45 mph. I guess that's OK, it's a long drive for them, like 3 miles, LOL. Thank God that's all it is. I didn't see any laying any rubber, but they were speeding up to the speed limit, at the very least. I probably would too if I was them. Gotta admit it's a pretty cool job.
It's just so cool seeing them go down the road all day, it's usually about 6-10 in a row, then a bit of a gap, then another 6-10. It really makes the wait rough on me though.
Thanks for the info kcrw898!!! Hopng this is positive. 1000 mustangs removed from the holding lot.
Hopefully I'll receive mine by the end of next week. Just in time for some great weather. High tomorrow, down here in SC, suppose to be in the high 70's. The trees are budding, grass is beginning to turn green and the azaleas blooming. Almost time to pull out the shorts.
