Been lurking for awhile but never posted a topic, so hope I did this right!

My salesman called this afternoon and said all orders from medium to large sized dealers are on hold for 45 days so production can be directed to small rural dealers who have been cut out of the recent allotments due to their size. He stated this came directly from Ford. I'm Ok with this since I ordered in late Jan. and I see many fellow TMS'ers who ordered way before I did. Just wanted to know if anyone else has received the same news?

Thanks,
Wayne

Hmm, interesting. I ordered 2/7/2005 and I try to call every 2 weeks. Today he told me I have a partial VIN number and that it will definitely be built.

This doesn't make sense - I ordered from a large dealer; many who ordered from small rural dealers after me have already received their car. I'm not ready to be punished again...

I'm reading similar posts today that people are getting bad news. This really stinks. I'm starting to remember reasons why I haven't owned a Ford in 22 years! My first and only car was a 1980 Mustang. IF they screw this up, I seriously doubt I'd ever go Ford again. IF mine's on hold for 45 days, then who knows when it will be built. I thought ordering in early Feb, I'd surely be able to have it for spring and summer. I may have to start searching for alternatives. I definitely want a new car for summer. The thing is, there just is no real alternative to a Mustang. I can be patient, I think it's worth it, but if I don't have it by June 1, I'll get something else.

I thought so too, but I've seen similar posts which seem to go along with this 45 days.

Also, even though my salesman gave me a partial VIN, he went on and on saying how busy the plant is to try to meet all these orders, it just doesn't seem encouraging when I consider how he acted and then in reading everything on here. But June 1 is awhile yet.

I really hope that is not true. I ordered from a large dealer way back on 11/01/04. Found today that I JUST got a VIN and ETA is 3/28. That will be 21 weeks since my order. If this sets it back even farther, I may end up cancelling the order...

I pray you are correct. I ordered waaayyyy back in Nov from a small dealer. A good dealer but small just the same. It is about time those being punished for ordering from a small dealer get noticed. :w00t: :w00t:

Well mine is on a rail car and is supposed to arrive tommorrow or wednesday. But I was also told by dealer out of the 14 gt's ordered only 4 are going to be built. So there is definitely something going on. Good luck to all. I ordered on 11/8/2004 built 2/7/2005, on rail car 2/28, eta next day or so.

What defines a "medium to large dealer"?

At the fact that I can get a Porsche faster than a mustang, I understand they weren't expecting the demand that has happened, whatever though I'm happy. I have my wheels!!

Lil Eleanor, what dealer did you order from here in Cincy?

I ordered from Woody Sander Ford and from order date (1/5/05) to delivery date (2/19/05) was 45 days.

Hopefully my dealer is not trying to back my order up because it is on a d-plan and they can sell these cars nearer to MSRP if the car is setting on their lot.
All I know is he said it may be the middle of May before my order gets pulled and it may arrive sometime in June. He said it is because Ford needed to build cars for the small dealers since they were getting excluded because of the allocation process.

Sounds right. I ordered Dec 18th from a small dealer in Jersey, they said they complained the end of Feb and got a VIN, the hotline states no serial and est build date March 21st to the 28th. I hope I don't get pushed off longer, my dayly driver is ready to be laid to rest. Love the car but hate the run around I've been getting. :worship: Keeping my fingers crossed, there starting to hurt

Chrissy, Hope you get yours built soon. Waiting since Jan is bad enough but to be waiting since Dec. Uggghh!!
