Help: Tire size for GT500 rims?

Hi guys, I have 30k miles on my original BFGs and it's time to replace them. I have the opportunity to buy a set of take-off GT500 rims and Goodyear F1 tires, but I need some help deciding which package to buy. I can either get the rims with 255s all the way around, or 285s all the way around, or the original setup on the GT500 with 255s up front and 285s out back. I'd like to be able to rotate the tires so, I'm leaning towards the same size all the way around. Would you go with 285s or 255s all the way around? Thanks.

I think 285s up front would look awesome.

I run 275 40 18 all the way around with no problems.

The wider the tire the more prone to "follow" grooves it will be. You should run as wide as possible and stay within your comfort zone. I know the roads around here are complete cr@p and for that reason I stayed with 255s all the way around. 285s would be sexy, just may require a tight grip on the wheel more often than not.

I had 275/40/18 Nittos on steeda ultralite wheels on the '05 and I didn't like the way the steering felt. I felt it dulled the little bit of feeling we have in these cars, plus it tramlined like crazy on the crappy roads around here. I would recommend the original ford set up even though you can't rotate. If not that, then the 255s all around. I'm not convinced rotating buys you all that much on a summer tire like the F1s. Plus the staggered look is sweet.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking that 285s are too wide for the front.

255's front and 295's rear the heck with rotating them. Just replace them when they wear out

Went with the 255s all the way around. I can double the life of the tires by rotating.
