I recently bought a 2006 manual stock v6 mustang with 46,000 miles, and for some reason during the past couple of weeks, it's been stalling when the clutch is disengaged or idling in neutral. The rpms slowly drop when disengaging the clutch, cruising at around 2.5k, all the way past idle, and dies without a check engine light or maintenance light. It only happens about %5 of the time when driving, and the car starts fine and performs fine to begin with. It's only happened while driving 5-10 minutes after starting the car. Not only does it stall every once in awhile, but when the car begins to malfunction, at certain times the engine will rev itself without me applying any gas. Rev itself to ridiculous rpms around 4-5k. Even with these malfunctions, when I notice it's happening, all I have to do it turn the car off, and restart it and it drives perfectly fine for the next couple days or more. I checked the MAF, it's sensor, and the throttle body and it looked to be in good condition. But then again I was just looking for the obvious and not too in depth. What could these problems mean? Or is it possible to fix myself? Shall I take it in to a ford service mechanic?
