I have been waiting on the price list before deciding to purchase. My salesman at the local dealership told me 2 months ago that he would call me when pricing came in and we could work on my order. I called today, and he had to ask another salesman if the pricing had came through. I already knew that it had thanks to this wonderful site. Here is the kicker, he told me that Ford had stopped prodution of the GT after only a few were made and that Ford would not be taking any more orders for at least the next 6 weeks due to unspecified problems. Is there any truth in this? He was quick to point out that they would be getting 2 or 3 GTs in and would call me this evening and explain the options, colors etc. on the chance that I could be interested in one of those. I am not ruling this out, it is a strong possibility. It just seems 'not really right' to me based on information that I have read in the past few months here. BTW, it is after 8:00 pm and he never called either. He is unsure if dealership is going to accept x plan also. Another thing he was to communicate this evening.

Thanks to the owner, members, and salesmen of this site that really makes this the best site on mustangs, BAR NONE! :worship:

Welcome 01F150, Not sure of the answer to your question, but I ordered a V6 from George Coleman Ford in Travelers Rest SC, and they are very knowlegable on the 05. Not sure how far 96 is from Travelers Rest but it might be worth a shot for you. Good Luck

It does sound partially true though, check BEK's thread about the production hold on GT's from today. It might just be a little generalized. You have to remember that most salespeople dont check for the 05 price list every day at 9:05 am/12:05pm and 12:05 am every day

I DID SCOOP THAT stinkA THOUGH :headbang:

I think I am going to start wearing a cup.

01F150,
Your salesperson has not given you the whole truth. There is a restriction on GTs, meaning that Ford can only currently build about 50% of production as GT models. That does not mean you can not order one. It just means there is greater demand than Ford had planned.
Ah, your salesman lied about Ford stopping production. I would call somewhere else. Sorry.
