When my heater control is set to "Floor" only, I still have at least 40% or more of the air flow coming out the defrost ducts. Has anyone noticed this?

I super dislike the air control on my car. Too hot, too cold, too much air no matter where I put the control....Even closed I get too much air. Can't get the temp comfy either.

I noticed the same thing - too much air coming out the top of the dash when on floor mode. Dealer said it was normal, but to me it doesn't seem normal.

Haven't noticed anything like this - so far I have been totally pleased with the climate control system... I'll have to test that out....

[I am just so darn happy to be driving a car I can turn on the AC full blast (ie - see Florida HEAT) and yet still have actual POWER and RESPONSE when you push down on the pedal.... I did like my Escort but that whole joke about quick-stop situations and flipping on the AC full blast as extra braking power...... with that engine, it wasn't far from the truth! ]

Mine does the same thing. Also when you switch to floor/vent hardly anything comes out of the vents. Not the greatest setup if you ask me.

I noticed that the floor vent must not be aligned right. My upper shins/knees can get warm, but my feet don't get any warm air.
I also noticed there is a lot of air coming out of th event on the lowest setting.

think of it this way, ford knows that if your putting the floor heater on chances are the car will be cold on the outside, and considering its about to heat up inside its obvious the windsheild will be fogging up shortly

i do notice partial flow to the defrost vents even in floor mode. but for temp and comfort
i find it great. now having said that let me explain... when i started driving it in the cold weather i had the temp setting on high, then it got too hot and i slowly turned it down alittle at a time. now i have it right were i like it and don't find i have to move it. it will be in the teen's over the week end so i might have to ajust it but not much.

so find a temp setting that is comfortable and leave it alone. if you mudt just remember
were it was set. mine is at the 1:15 clock position.

So far, the airflow in mine seems to be just right for each of the positions on the control.

One thing I must say, though, is that this is the first car I've ever owned that has every bit as good acceleration with the a/c on as off.

Now this is spooky :bang:

After writing the above post this morning, I noticed, for the first time this afternoon, that much of the air was being blown through the defroster register, even though the control was set on floor. I turned the control to every other position and the air was directed to where it was supposed to be. Sure enough, though, when set to floor, it's about 50% floor and 50% windshield. The only difference between the floor setting and the next setting to the right was the a/c compressor coming on. I wonder if it was designed that way?

I have noticed that one. Nothing comes out when it is set to half floor/half vent. I was going to wait until a significant fix came out for the shaker "bad disk" problem. I figured that way they would only need to tear apart the dash once.

I am pretty happy with the rest of the heating and A/C. The heater vent blows like a salamander.

Still recovering from many Michigan winters of frozen noses. More heat up top is fine with me.

I noticed one time mine acted funny on the floor/vent setting. I just moved it and put it back and it has been working fine since. I thought it was just a glitch but time will tell. And if a small amount of air comes out of the defroster when it is set on floor this might be a good thing as the car is very air tight and the windows do tend to fog easily. I kind of like it and im leaving it alone.

07 Not working right either.

I know this is an old post but I have am 07 that does the same thing and I know it isnt suppose too because if you wanted it to go to defrost and floor then you have a position for that. Has anyone gotten their cars fixed yet. Thanks

This has been a problem since they came out in 05, is sad Ford couldn't figure out how to fix a simple problem such as this. There has been numerous complaints about this since the new stang came out. Between this and the gas tank filling problem, plus the leaking water on the passenger floor, it seems Ford just don't care, maybe the new ceo can get things done before they go bankrupt.

Well i guess if they can't figure out something like this, that has been in cars for decades, I guess it's reasonable that they couldn't figure out how to get my windows to open from the remote. GRRRR!!! That one still gets me.
