Took the wife out for a ride last night in the new stang and really got an earful . She really hates the angle of the front seat headrest. She said that it is very uncomfortable and would be a real pain on a long trip.

Has anyone else got this kind of headrest feedback and came up with a solution? I'm thinking some kind of pillow/pad or if there is an aftermarket headrest replacement. It doesn't bother me, but I understand her problem with it.

Although they look like they're at the wrong angle, I'm actually comfortable with them now.

After a few cruise's, with my head back against them, actually felt pretty good.

I have the same problem when we take Hatch's on road trips. I just sit lower in the seat and place my head just below the area where it meets the seat. Hope that makes sense.

I know what you mean. I end up resting my head on the headrest. But since the suspension is stiffer than I am used to, my head keeps rubbing up and down the headrest. Gets irritating real quick.

So I lean the seat back a little further.

Raise the headrest, and your head should stop rubbing against it.

Yeah mine too. I have it as high as it will go. I am used t it when driving because I sit a little forward, but as a passeneger it is hard to relax.

The angle of the headrests is for Safety.....Not comfort.

Recline the seatback a little more - that seems to help my wife so that the headrest isn't hitting her head.

Have you tried putting your wife in the back seat and turning up the radio?

Wife refuses back seat still hates the head rest
What can ya do

I don't have any problems with the drivers head rest and I don't know (nor will I ever know) what things are like in the passengers seat

I have heard that, but if the driver is in an uncomfortable position, I think that would also create an unsafe condition. Or, the driver would make unsafe changes to allieviate the problem.

Like reclining the seat back more. I do that, but I know it is unsafe to recline the seat too much. It can cause back problems if in an accident.

I think they are the best headrests I have had in any car.

One more thought on this. Have you tried bolting on one of your wife's two auxiliary head? You might check first with Head Two and then with Head Three to determine which head is more compatible with your new Mustang. This is why the corporation provides three heads! You never know what you may run into out there in the wild frontier.
Keep the other two spare heads in the trunk, just in case.

I think they are great. I actually can rest my head on them if I want to. Most of the old head rests weren't very effective until you were making like a PEZ dispenser!

I do notice on expansion joints my head bobbles a little LOL. Just put the seat rake back a few degrees so you aren't making direct contact. Same goes for when I'm wearing a hat, it rubs. I think women (or men) with long hair and/or pony tails will rub and bounce off the head rest.

Your head is just a bowling ball attached to a pole with muscles to support it. It's like people who complained about seat belts years ago, they are worth the initial "discomfort" and once they understand the benefits they should feel more comfortable, not less.

I believe the funky looking headrests were designed this way on purpose to dcrease the whiplash. The allow for a shorter travel until you hit the headrest (a poor name for what is really a safety device). Short travel is good, long travel is bad - more chances to have a whiplash or even some broken bones in your neck. There is a reason why ford minivans just rated better than any other minivan on the market in the whiplash department.

Has anyone though of actually slightly bending the rails and then re-inserting them. This would only be after a comfortable seatback position was found and the headrest is still determined to be too close.

Can they be bent ? Any modifiers out there ?
