I was just gassing up my '03 Cobra on the way home today. This guy pulls up next to me and asks if I've seen the 2005 Cobra yet like he was familiar with the new model. I told him there was no such thing as an '05 Cobra. He stammered and stuttered trying to get his foot out of his mouth and asked when they were coming out. I told him the last I had heard they would be out in 2006 as an '07 model.
He nodded knowingly and said "Well, there's no sense in having a mustang if it's not a Cobra." I told him there were a lot of people who didn't agree with that but everyone's entitled to their opinion. He told me to have a good one and drove off before he started shoving his foot in his mouth again.
I love to talk to people about cars and especially mustangs but I hate it when they pretend to know what they are talking about and really have no clue. I can't count how many times someone has asked about the 5.0 liter engine in my car. I just want to slap them and ask if they've been in the twilight zone since 1995. :bang:

 

Ditto. I was looking at a V6 '05 at a dealership the other day and several other people stopped to look also. The salseman came out, and it was clear that I knew more about the new Mustang than everyone else there put together, thanks to the Mustang Source. A couple of good 'ol boys went on and on about the '05 Cobra they had seen running around town, and how it had 450 hp, blah, blah, blah! The salesman didn't even contradict them! Maybe he knew they weren't buyers and wanted to let them display their ignorance? I said Wow! Who put the 450 hp engine in it? They said Ford! When I explained the current Ford offerings like I knew what I was talking about ('cause I did), they just nodded and left. The salesman and I talked awhile, and he wanted to know where I got all of my information. He is the fourth or fifth one that I have passed this web site on to. The ones I have talked to seemed starved for info and have seemed eager to check out this site. Maybe it should be required reading for Ford salesmen? Thanks Brad!

 

I was in memphis the other day and i did see an 05 cobra oh yeah Elvis was driving it, and Jimi Hendricks was riding shotgun!!!!!

 

 

people always talk garbage to me sayin how much the 05 sux and im like yea have u sat n one they repond no have u seen one in person no have u driven one no again. i win in every catagory plus it would rip what alotta people who say stuff about it drive

 

Sounds to me like he was just trying to compliment you on your car.

The other night a guy asked me "How fast is it?" I replied, "I dunno, I haven't taken it to the track yet." He said, "No, how fast will it go." I said, "You mean 'top speed'?" and he said, "Yeah, how much does the speedometer read?" I said, "It reads 140 but who would get it that high on the street or strip anyway? Not me." He was asking as if that was a real measure of the car - how much the speedo reads...

I like that just as much as someone who will argue with your about it having a 5.0 in it...
