I ordered my 06 but the dealership is over 500 miles from me. Has anyone had their car drop shipped? How does it work? What was the cost? How were you treated by the receiving dealer?

I ordered my car through a dealership in Texas and they drop shipped it to my local dealer in Oregon. The ordering dealer just has Ford ship to the dealer where you want to pick up the car. This dealership will charge the ordering dealer a drop ship fee ($200-300) for taking the car off the truck, prepping it and so on.

Your reception at the delivering dealer may vary, the people at my local dealership pretty much had no clue what was going on, I had no issues. They even still gave me a coupon for a free oil change.

I just ordered mine yesterday from a dealer in Wisconsin, and they are having it drop shipped to a dealer here in Alabama. All the dealer in Wisconsin asked for was the options I wanted and where I wanted it shipped.

And the fax machine for the initial paperwork.
I had mine drop shipped to where I work so there were no extra fees. (what was I gonna do charge myself to take it off the truck and PDI it?)
There was a slight delay because of having to send paperwork through the mail, for the money I saved, it was worth it.

You are having the car drop shipped to where you work? I take it you work for a dealer? If not, then I will do the same. Did not know you could have it shipped anywhere?

I wish it was that easy. I got lucky because the company I work for has a Ford drop ship code. Even though we're not a dealer, it works just like we are when it comes to shipping the car.

I basically had my choice of buying from any dealer in the country w/o any added delivery cost so I went with the cheapest and got an amazing deal.
