Today my dad finally says "Alright, lets go down and order the Ford FiveHundred. I want the SEL with AWD but nobody has one in stock. "

So we get there, we test drive one with the CVT because he has never driven one with a CVT before and wanted to make sure this is what he wanted. The drive is over, he says "That was pretty good." He's walking back up with the saleman, when I happen to spot a V-6 Redfire Mustang. I say, "Hey dad, you should drive that one. I'll bet you love it!" He complains how he's never really liked the mustang because he doesn't fit very well (he's a somewhat hefty gentleman) and it is difficult for him to get in and out of it (bad knees don't help).

Well after about 5 minutes of debate and coersion, he finally agrees to a test drive. We all get in, and the first thing he says is "Crap." I ask what the problem is. He says "I fit."

Then dealer (in the back seat behind my dad) says, "I have to get a security device so the car will start. I will be right back." My dad gets out of the car to let the dealer out. He says, "Crap." Again, I ask what the problem is. He says, "I can get out."

Finally, we go on the test drive. We get back, out of the car, and into the showroom. Again he says, "Crap." The dealer asks, "What?" My dad responds with, "I'm gonna have to wait to buy my car. You don't have the one I want in stock." The dealer says, "Well it should only take just over a month or so to get the 500 you want in stock." My dad then responds with, "Yeah, but you don't have the Mustang Convertibles until spring."

So after going to a dealership knowing what car he wanted, one test of the new stang has him saying, "So I guess that means I'll have to get one for your mother, too."

He will be ordering two GT Verts (Black for him and Windveil Blue for her) as soon as the order banks open. Thought everyone would enjoy that heart-warming story of the drawing power of this Mustang.

Your pops must be really wise to listen to you. When I was 16, my parents went to trade their station wagon in on another family car and before it was over, me and my brother convinced them to get a firebird. Wish it could have been a mustang, but the firebird was a pretty cool family car when you're 16.

seen something similar to what was happening here at the dealership today... older couple in their probably mid 70's were there and looking at the five hundred. I came in to get a look at my 05 stang GT that I had on order and got to talking to the husband. He was really interested in it. Needless to say, by the time I had left the store, the dealer was making fun of them, "so you want to buy an economical grocery getter, and you want it to be fast so you're getting a Mustang?"
I thought that was the funniest thing I've ever seen but I've never seen a bigger grin on either of their faces either when they replied "yes"

You can order the Vert. There is no pricing yet. But Ford accepts the order.
The guys at both dealerships we visited said they couldn't put the orders in the order bank yet, and that they didn't even have an accurate order guide.

Does anyone know if the order guide for the verts is out yet?

Hey, I can tell you that they are building 05 convertibles again. They have been doing another pre-production run at Flat Rock right before Thanksgiving. I'll inquire next week how it went - maybe stopdown there and check it out for myself!

Okay, this bit of news and a quarter will get you a copy of the daily paper. I'll stop writing now...

Oh don't worry, he's already there. After he learned that the difference in mileage between the two is 2 city miles, he said, "Well what's the point of the 6 cylinder then?" B)

His dad had a '69 Mach 1. He is used to that kind of power. Halfway through the drive he mentioned to me, "Hmm...too bad they don't have a GT to test..."

But he is definitely stuck on the GT vert. He keeps saying he's just gonna get one for mom, but she's had 3 new cars since his last new car...Its time for a little fun for daddy...

Let me drive what? Theirs? Mine will be here 12/10-ish (so says my dealer). We will see...

He already told me he will need to take mine to work one day show he can show up an posterior orifice with a vette who's been droolin over the new stang...
