No radar detector laws in Texas, but I think being caught going over 100mph is an instant "Go Directly to Jail" card as involuntary attempted manslaughter.
Dont get me started on big-buck tripple digit tickets

I agree 140/145 is plenty on the speedometer. I didn't think the current GT speedos went to 150 anyway, but I obviously could be wrong.
The current GTs' speedos do reach 150.

2001 GT (150):

2001 Bullitt (150):

2003 Mach 1 (150):

2003 Cobra (160):

2000 Cobra R (180):

... the fact that the underbody of the stang isn't covered at all is not that good for aerodynamics unfortunately :\

No way will I ever own a car that has less than a 150 MPH speedo.

I don't pay as much attention to mine as probably some, but to say I never look at it would be an exageration. I at least glance at it!

240kmh~149mph

It will probably be electronically governed, my guess, 140mph.

There are some great top speed calculators on the Internet. Using 290 rwhp, 3475 lbs, 3.55 final drive, some reasearch on what OD the 17" tires are, maybe a few guesses on RPM at speed, you can get several estimates of any vehicles top speed.

Here are a few calcualtor links. Do a serach for more:

http://calibracer.com/

http://www.davewin.com/tech/horsepower_calc.shtml

Making sense of the varying results from these calculators will help kill time until your car is delivered!

What kind of aftermarket parts can you get to increase the top speed...

And, how the heck do you take out the stupidass governor!?

Because its a new engine, we're not sure exactly what aftermarket parts there will be at launch.

The governor is usually removed by either reflashing the stock chip, or getting a new one.

So either a racing chip or find a way to reprogram it?

Too bad I can't even get close to that fast in Ohio. Did you all know we have the 2nd largest highway patrol? I'm told CA has the largest. Seriously, on a strip of highway near my house about 3 mi. long I've seen 4 state cruisers? And they ticket for 5...5! over the limit. I have dreams about driving out west.

Was out in Montana not too long ago -- outside of Great Falls, with time to kill, in a crummy rental car. Got it to 115 (downhill), no desire to go faster in that thing ( I forget, was it a Malibu?) -- Never even saw another vehicle.

i went over 90mph in my old VW Golf,,,,,,and i would not recommend doing that in a small car like that! Darn thing was shaking and rattling like crazy. Felt like i was about to flip and crash. Makes me wonder why the speedometer goes up to 120???
