GT350 specs

If an insider source revealed on condition of anonymity the scraped plans of the Shelby GT350, would building said vehicle be considered a tribute, a bad idea, or should I not listen to the naysayers. The Shelby CS8 and Shelby SR are both possible conversions after the fact. But I like the history of the GT350 and the purposed parts are subtle but meaningful modifications that look well put together. I was asked not to post the complete list, but it would be similar to the Shelby SR, but more than the Shelby GT. FWIW, Cobra emblems would be involved.

You wouldn't be the first or the last to build a tribute Stang. I am paying tribute to the "2+2" with a $10.00 emblem .I installed on the lower right corner on my CDC black out panel.
There are some really nice tribute cars here, look them up on the search feature.

I think even Shelby knows the Shelby GT wasn't a whole lot more than a cosmetic package....

I understood Shelby plans/planned to build a GT350 version of the 2010. Is this no longer the case, or are you referring only to the '05-'09 cars?

I did a GT350 tribute. Frankly, I don't care what other people think is "right". That said I have not taken any flack at cruise nights, etc. I do get a fair amount of people asking if Shelby makes a GT350, and I always tell them no, that this was just my doing.

I'm making around 550whp, and don't think I'm doing the Shelby "rep" any harm.

So the sidestriping came in wrong, it should have said GT550?

Looks like a great modern rendition of a classic, nice job!

When my car is paid for, I'd like to add the GT500 front end and hood, maybe the wheels and back bumper. I don't think there's anything wrong with a tribute car, as long as you don't try to pass it off as the real thing, especially at the time of sale. There was a black GT500 'vert on the showroom floor when I bought my black GT 'vert, and while I really liked the way the GT500 looked, the asking price was $27k more than I paid for my GT.

I had a '69 Camaro, and you can basically buy everything to make it a Z-28 out of a catalog, except for the 302 engine. I had the cowl induction hood and the "cowl induction" lettering from a Chevelle, and I liked the way it looked. I'd run into people occasionally that didn't like the lettering on the hood, but I wasn't trying to make an accurate car, and it was my car so there!

I'm not a big fan of 'tribute cars', but yours turned out great. Good job!
