I emailed a dealer and asked him what his most decked out mustang gt would cost a month for 36 months and he said "I had a lease payment figured out for our most decked out Mustang with $3000 down at signing, 36 months, 12,000 miles a year it is $527 including taxes and fees"

Now I didn't expect him to say Decked out but I'm assuming he's talking about Premium oppose to deluxe.... i dont know if dealers do anything special to deck out the cars..
do they?

Also, what is the differences between Deluxe and Premium other then leather seats for an extra 2/3 thousand dollars? Thanks guys

Leather seats and Shaker 500. That's it, but he may be talking about other options that you can add to either one

That seems like it is too much to pay for a 3 year lease with $3,000 down. That's paying $21,972 for a car that you will have for 3 years and only be able to put 12,000 miles on it per year. When your 3 years are up you will go in and return it to the dealer and have nothing. I would go get other prices.

Man don't fall for that lease crap. You make payments for years and at the end own nothing Buy it or leave it alone. I know people that have had to learn this the hard way. Do not be one of them.

Heres what he sent to my reply asking what he meant by decked out
"It is a black GT premium with manual 5-speed transmission. Options include: shaker 1000 audio system, active anti-theft system, interior upgrade package, rear decklid spoiler, wheel locking kit, 17" bright machined cast alumium wheels."

Still looking alittle expensive?

here's my opinion.... don't lease a Mustang. That's what Hondas are for.... nobody collects Hondas (can't blame 'em) but Mustangs are collectors..... Especially this one.

That's $27950 MSRP. After TTL in Texas that's near $29850. Finance that amount over 5 years at 4.5% APR and that's $557/mth payment.

Put $3K down, redo the TTL and amortize that and its down to $497/mth.

Doesn't sound like a good deal to me. You put $3K down, pay $527/mth for 3 years and you're out $21972 and no assets.

Or if you buy, with the $3K down and $497/mth, you've paid $20892 and still have the option to sell the car.

the pricing listed for 36 months with 3000 down seems right on with what my saleslady quoted me. of course it can change, tomorrow. I just ordered my car last night & she will refigure when it comes in. she said to figure about $15.00 off for each $1000. less in price. I also, signed up for the AQHA ,hopefully be able to get the $500 off.

also, I agree it is high ,but leases generally are!! Different cars have better residuals than others and they know people will not be gentle on a maual transmission!

There are valid reasons to lease a car. USUSALLY, the monthly payment is less than if you buy it, so you can afford to drive a higher end vehicle, especially if the residual value on said car is high. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I leased my S2000 and I think the residual value was something like 66% for a 3 year lease. So that means that you only "finance" the part of the car that you are going to "use". So my monthly payment on my S2000 was (I think) somewhere near $150 less than if I would have bought it. Plus it can be a business write off, and you get to change cars frequently and not have to worry about taking 100% extra special care of it. I ran it like a dog redlining it at 9300 RPM, racing it etc...

I did the same thing with my Toyota 4 runner, leased it and had a much lower monthly payment, bought it at the end of the lease and sold it for $3,000 profit

All this being said...I am buying my mustang Delivery ETA November 19th

The "mycolor" is part of the UPI and is not included standard in either the Delux or the Premium.

When you lease, you are paying an interest rate of 8% (money factor), and are also charged a $500 acquisition fee at the front end. With a good credit score you can finance it and get a lower interest rate.

I leased my last Mustang ('02 fully loaded GT) and paid $700 drive off and $400 a month on a two year lease. For my fully loaded '05 GT (5spd manual, no red interior & no Shaker 1000), the best lease I could get was $700 drive off and $450 a month on a three year lease (15K miles per year). I said no way when I was able to finance it at 4.39% with a monthly payment of $480 per month (I put some $ down). Without anything down my monthly payment would have been $515 per month; I was still personally better off in the long run financing.

$3,000 down and $527 a month is ridiculously high for a lease on an under $30,000 vehicle.

IMO, Mustangs have such poor residuals (the '05's is 53%), that unless you know for sure you are going to buy it at the end of your lease, your monthly payment is too high, and you are left with nothing at the end of the lease. You are better off buying it, financing it at a lower rate than the money factor on a lease, and having some equity in the car in a few years. That's just my opinion.
