Just drove past my dealer and saw 3 GT's sitting out front on the lot, so obviously not orders. Is the demand finally starting to drop where we will begin to see them on lots just like the v6s?

 

I sure hope so. I'd like to at least test drive one before they change body styles.

 

The three Ford dealerships I visit all have GT's now, and only one of the dealerships is price gouging.

 

Back in Feb the dealer I bought mine from had 3 for sale on the lot. All for sticker too.

 

You're not going to have to worry about any body style changes for at least several more years..... As far as the 3 GT's sitting on the dealer lot, they may not have been there long.

 

My guess is FORD is finally catching up to all of the orders. There are a few on the lot where I bought mine, but then again, I am sure some will stay there until after the winter.

 

Yeah, people who ordered are obviously awaiting pickups...
Demand is still there, just not as high...

And Oct-March isn't exactly stang season....

I'd say 2010. That's my prediction. You won't like the other part of my prediction, 2010 will be the last Mustang. Just a hunch, but I have a feeling this is the last hurrah for the Mustang.

 

Just because we may see alot of GT's on the lots does not mean there arent a ton of orders from people willing to wait. I wouldnt buy a 30K GT when I ordered a $27K. ordered 7/31 not serialized

Very true, but those were different times. Gas prices will continue to rise, and not enough people are going to be interested in a 2 door coupe that can't get 30+ mpg.

Time will tell, and I hope I'm wrong, we'll see come 2010, that's for sure.

 

I think they might change the body style around 1012 or so.
I don't think the Mustang will end anytime soon but I think we could be in for a High powered 6 cylinder only Mustang.

 

At the time of the introduction of the Probe... The Mustang production and sales were strong , gas prices were not an issue.

 

Honestly, do you think gas prices are an issue? The mustang has better gas mileage than pickups and SUV's. Anyway, I don't think gas prices have anything to do with mustang sales. Ford is just catching up on production. You have to remember, they received thousands of orders (I think it was somewhere around 30,000---correct me if I am wrong) before they even began producing the car. I was one of them. Yes, people are still ordering cars the way they want from the factory, but not anywhere near the amount of people that ordered when the car was first introduced.

 

Not only that, there's absoultely no reason they can't tweak gas mileage one of several ways.

You could make a 6 Hybrid version fairly easily, and it would sell well. You could have an eight that shuts 4 cyclinders when just crusing around town. There's all sorts of options ...

Plus, on the highway, my mach gets almost 28 anyway ...

Gas Milage ISN'T an issue. Do you think we're all going to be driving a Prius?

 

I did not bring up the Probe and could care less about the gas milage. Has it been reported anywhere the current number of outstanding orders? It seems we really dont have a figure showing less orders. Do we?

 

It isn't an issue for you/me and just about everyone else here right now, but for the masses who aren't neccesarily "car people" who are the people that Ford will have to depend on to keep sales up, it is and will be.

Take a look at Fords best sellers.... The trucks, the SUV's....all of them have taken large hits. Gas prices ARE an issue when it comes to vehicle choice.

The Mustang may not be feeling it now, but by 2010....

 

I hope so too, it might bring down the outragious markups. Personally though I have not seen any GTs sitting on lots in my area. There are a few V6s though. I pass one everyday on my way to work and it has been at the dealership for over 2 weeks. It's probably marked up over a GT MSRP. If it sits there those greedy SOBs are getting what they deserve.

 

exactly...If there are a ton of orders then they will still keep the mark ups even with inventory on the lots with mark ups
