Pulled out of getting the car cleaned and got on it a little bit, nothing horrible. Then, a little ways down the road...here come the cherries.

I'm thinking..hmm....what did I do??? Had no idea.

Cop comes to the window, says "Where's your front license plate??"

I said "umm....I expect it very soon, waiting on the dealer to get the bracket". Didn't know what else to say. Can't say "I don't want to mess up the front of this thing with a stupid license plate." I whipped the plate up from under the seat. "Here it is." He says "It's supposed to be on the front of the car, not under the seat". Walks away. I really thought I was toast for license plate ticket.

He came back with a warning. "I hope you get that bracket soon, I see you've had the car for some time" "Yes officer, I will call them this week."

Hate this. Really don't want to do this and I really thought they'd leave me alone. It's just not going to happen.

Or, just maybe, enforcing the law?

Yes, and a useless law too.

No argument there. It's just a stretch to say he's jealous, imo.

Here's the thing that pisses me off. Each time a cop "just enforces a dumb law" it is a waste of his time and our money, it turns the public a little more against the cops, and it reenforces the "us versus them" attitude (on both sides).

The cops and city should get together and agree not to enforce moronic laws that politicians put on the books (and get on cops cases that are that ****). Or they can keep wasting time on fix it tickets, 5 mph hour over the speed limit tickets, and then wonder the Joe public has no problem cutting police budgets, or giving the cops a bit of us versus them attitude back.

(FWIW I have no problem with cops; and have a few family members that are men in blue. But many people used to be happy to see the cops, before they became the enforcement arm of the bureaucrats).

Been driving for years without a front plate, and have every intention of telling the dealer, " no front holes drilled or plate installed". I hope this does not happen to me..........bracket sounds like a winner to me, I think I will say, custom bracket from the aftermarket because of the way the stock setup is, and messing up my front bumper and all...whadayathink?

I told my dealer that I didn't want the front drilled and he has to report that to the DMV because it is a law in California. I am seeing more and more cameras on stoplights for people who are sitting in cross walks in the intersection. At this point I think I am going to just go ahead and have them mount the front plate. I don't want any excuses for an OFFICER to pull me over for a look see.

Wow, in Cali they have to report it to the DMV??? Heck, they're barely that strict w/ firearms in Florida. Now I'm beginning to see why some refer to it as the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

I was in Hamilton (Mercer County) when this happened. I live right near there. This guy was just sitting on the side of Rt.33 when he spotted me. I guess the shiny black '05 caught his attention.

He actually asked if I bought it in PA. Didn't want to lie in case he can see that info. I don't believe he can, but just in case. Being caught in a lie is a great way to graduate from warning to ticket.

I would have left it off until I got pulled over just like you. But now you really have no choice. I would put it on rather than get a ticket.
