Got OWNED by a Mitsubishi Galant ?
If you think 0-60 in 4.9 seconds is slow, perhaps you should have your testosterone checked.
And as I've said twice now, show me a list of cars within $10K of the Mustang GT's price that can equal or beat a 4.9 second 0-60 time, stock.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
You WILL be sorry when that blower you add causes you endless repair and warranty headaches down the road.

yeah stock for stock even the older ones are faster, but not by much, but the newest ones will beat you assuming equal driving skills, but if you are the better driver its not a far stretch at all to beat one. I have a neighbor who has one that is modded, exhaust, intake, springs, cams, ect., thing sounds mean. We raced several races in a row heads up and traded off on wins. It was difficult considering I cant get traction with my tires until I am well into 2nd gear. We stopped after I pinned it as hard as I could off the line and the car got so sloppy on me I was sideways and almost put her into a wall, saved it though and we were done for the day. Funny thing was the entire time I was loose I was dead even with him until I corrected and we were off side by side....lol. Im just glad she hooked left and not right into him.
Wow... It's crazy how that folk still think this car is not enough from the factory running 4.9 to 5.1, 0-60 and high 13.6's on an average quarter miles times. This car is pushing just over 300 horses N/A on this small 281 cu in. v8 moving 3600 lbs. in this process. The Mustang has never been the fastest out of box, even from day one. Most of the cars that we all know of needs either cubic inches or some sort of power adder from the factory to even whup a Mustang. It IMO was the phenomenal aftermarket boom of the late 80's that made this car one of the most feared on the street.
Well here we are 20 years later and even folk in minivans want to run us. I'm cool with who ever think they can beat me because I know I got one of the baddest cars on the street, plus I don't want to risk my CDL. I love Mustangs and any Ford muscle ever made. Are they perfect? By no means, but I welcome back the Challenger, Camaro and maybe a revised GTO respectfully; I love fast cars no matter where they're made and I ESPECIALLY love American muscle from the 60's to the present, but the Mustang is how I roll. Always have.
Ford had an ad for the 70 Mercury Cyclone: "We made it hot. You can make it scream." With the incredible aftermarket we have for this car, not a thing has changed.. JMHO, no disrespect, nuff said.

My favorite that I owned was my 72 Gran Torino Sport...... until nowEdit: Second was 79 Fox body Capri turbo
Some of those cheesy 4 bangers can handle like 25-30 boost, with minor mods to the internals, honda makes their blocks very well, espacially since they have had a 1.8, and 2.0 liter forever. Those blocks have very little flaw, not to mentionusually a low comp ratio (better for boost) compared to our stangs, higher ratio (bad for boost) our engines are strong don't get me wrong, but theres only so much you can force upon them
my 2005 mustang gt 3v 4.6l v8 = 9.8:1 comp ratio
vs.
my brother's 2004 subaru impreza wrx 2.0 h4 = 8.0:1 comp ratio
The gt500 has an 8.4:1 ratio because of the internals. If you change your internals to the stronger saleen internals on the 281 extreme you can push 25 psi and have 800-900hp

I like them and before the 05s came out I would have one
But what I was looking for was in the 05+ Mustangs
