Regardless if you have a VIN or not you can at least find out your build date. Just have your DORA and enter this info:

dealer code: in top right corner of order form

body code :gt coupe is T82 ...v6 coupe is T80

Order #: top left of order form....could use vin. if you have it complete.

Model year: 2005

note: this is for dealers only(ha ha). you can speak to the automated system or a person if nessary.....like I said ..remember dealers only!

Sorry guys was advised to remove number...dont want to cause a stir...

This is NOT a public number and is only used for Ford employees. Remove it.

It is for dealers only. It costs money for Ford to have that for upkeep costs. You can't just give it to customers. I understand that you just wanted to help people, but themustangsource can get in big trouble for this.

Anyone have a good reason as to why a company like Ford doesn't have an automated number or on their website where you can put your VIN in and get a status report for the customer not just for dealers?

I wish they would.

I saw something that GM even has a program that Vett owners can go to the factory and be the first one to start the engine on their new car. That's one thing that GM has done well. Excellent way to build loyalty.

Yeah go to www.fleet.ford.com to input your VIN to get your status online. The catch though? You have to be a registered dealer with a login to utilize ...where the heck is the sense in that???

To become a Ford Fleet Account you must register for a Fleet Identification Number (FIN Code). In order to be eligible for a FIN Code you must meet the following requirements:

If you are a Commercial, Rental, Fleet Management or Utility Company, you must have purchased, registered or leased 5 or more NEW vehicles (any make or model) in the company name during the current model year or within the last 12 months. OR currently operate a fleet of 15 or more vehicles, any make or model, (owned or leased) in the company name.

If you are a Government Agency, you must have purchased, registered or leased 1 new vehicle (any make or model) in the agency name during the current model year or within the last 12 months. OR currently operate a fleet of 3 or more vehicles (owned or leased) in an agency name.

If you are a Taxi Company, you must have purchased, registered or leased 2 or more vehicles (any make or model) during the past model year or currently operate a Fleet of 5 or more vehicles.

If you are a Limo, Livery or Funeral Company, the following documentation is required: a For- Hire permit, Livery License or a Letter of Intent, in either the company or personal name. No minimum vehicle requirement.
From the site, I work for a Government Agency and we have a couple F-350's, do I qualify?

That's one thing I'll give GM, they have always seemed to be more concerned with their customer's than Ford.
And not just the Corvette things. There are a lot of "little" things that GM does for the customer that Ford doesn't. Even the average customer.

Our office doesn't actually do the purchasing part, but we do operate the vehicles, will have to count them tomorrow morning to see if we have at least 3 Fords. We have 6 total vehicles but they are a mix of Chevy and Ford, not sure how many of each we have.

I can understand your point on this, BUT....

If it wasn't for the fact that so many people have had so little information for so long about their orders, then I would have more sympathy.

At a minimum the message must be sent that there is something wrong with the way order infromation is provided and it is creating a great deal of customer dissatisfaction. That's a constructive message that should be welcomed by Ford.
