Well, i've had the car w/o any front license plate for about 10 months now.

Today, I got pulled over by two CHP motorcycles. They wrote me up for a "Fix it" ticket.

Oh well, guess I gotta put it on - bummer :bang:

That sucks, I did it for a while, but I still had my new car registration on my window, so cops just ignored me.
It's going to hurt drilling it though.

Guess you just found a couple guys with too much time on their hands. I've been driving in CA with no front license plate for over 7 years and counting. Even got stopped one time for a burned out headlight (Murphy's Law was in effect as I was literally on my way to the parts store to buy a new bulb). The missing front plate was not mentioned. Sounds like you just had some bad luck--of course if your car is the same color as your avatar, then you sort of have to expect a little more attention from the police.

You would think that with all the crimes going on that cops would have better things to do than harrass me about my front license plate - I mean seriously, they should go catch some real criminals

I live on the Quebec border right in Ottawa. They don't run front plates in Quebec, and we have a HUGE commuting population from accross the river.

Chance it with no front plate?? I'll just drive all crazy, and they never suspect the car is from Ontario.

Hahah...Sorry Quebeckers...All my friends that are from Quebec are from MTL.

On the other hand there is a heavy Mountie presence in Ottawa. And I've heard you don't wanna be pulled over by them...

Wonder if you could attached it with Velcro?

Sorry to hear about that. If it's a fix it ticket, just get some double sided tape and attach for ticket inspection, then remove licsense plate.

I know around LAX some of the intersections now have ticket cams, so the COPS are on the look-out for no front plates. One of my trucks got pulled over twice in two weeks. It's big revenue for the cities.

What happens if they catch you again w/o a front license plate - that might be more serious I would think.

I don't know, my guy was pulled over by the same Sheriff and she was upset he hadn't taken care of it but didn't go past a verbal, which was quite enough. Got taken care of that afternoon, (as he promised her it would).

Sorry to hear that Lord British.

I believe you live in Austin as do I. I've been driving around without front plates for about two months now, so I hope I don't run into the same problem.

Just seems that drilling holes into the front bumper of a GT is such a waste. Has anyone discovered a decent option for displaying front plates that doesn't ruin the look or integrity of the GT front end?

I live in a Small Town in Manitoba. In small towns they don't have police like the citys. They are all mounties. I have not run into trouble with them yet. But I have a Mustang now and I'm sure to run into them a couple times. My old car had blue signal lights and I was just waiting to get pulled over for it, and I never did. But then again it was a dodge Stratus. But I don't think the mounties are as bad as everybody says. I'd rather have small town mounties than crooked city police.

They were probably on their way to catch a real criminal until they got sidetracked pulling you over.
Seriously though, if they are like the motor jocks in my dept then their only job is traffic enforcement and accidents.

I am going to fabricate a bracket that attaches on the lower inside of the bumper and extends out and up to hold the plate, no holes in the bumper cover front needed.

When I bought my '05, the parts department said there was a licence plate bracket you can buy. I never fully checked into it but it might be worth a try.
