Hey guys,

I may be joining the GT elite soon. I found a guy who's selling an 05 GT with IUP, 4 (now 3) year maintennance plan, with a (non-ford) alarm, and Lo Jack installed. It has under 3800 miles on it and was purchased back in november 04. He's selling for 24,500. This sound like a good deal? I just wanted to get input from my fellow Mustang brethren. My only gripes is that it's mineral grey (I want sonic blue or screaming yellow or torch red) which I can live with and there's a spoiler, so installing a ducktail won't be easy, also I'm not very good at manual driving, so I'm going to have to get better soon. I also hate paying taxes on a used car, it seems like an injustice to pay taxes on something that has already been taxed within a year's time. Doesn't that count as double taxation?

Sounds high to me, especially for a car that doesn't sound too close to what you're looking for.

You can get a new one for only a couple grand more, in the color you want with the options you want.

If I were you, I'd pass. You'd have to wait a while longer, but waiting for what you want is better than getting this one and regretting it later.

I had been searching up until last week, and that is less than I've seen anyone asking for a used GT up till now. So I'd say yes thats a good price. It sounds though like its not your first, second, or third choice in color so you have to weigh how important that is in your decision.
Just check EBAY and you'll see what people are asking/getting. Good luck with the search.

Well actually I don't mind the mineral grey, I just wish the color was a little more flashy. I'm more annoyed with the fact that I'm going to have to learn manual driving. It worries me a little. I just wonder if I will find even lower prices than that when the 06 models are out. Considering I haven't seen a used 05 v6 for less than 20 and some v6s as high as 24K, I think this is a good price. I doubt the price of the GT will go down much lower in the near future unless the 06 models have a drastic effect on used 05 models. Plus with under 4K milage on the vehicle, it's practically a new car. Besides couldn't I repaint it to a color I like for under 1K?

To me not a "good" deal for you. Local dealer sold a Screaming Yellow GT off the lot at MSRP two weeks ago. They're out there. I'd be patient and order what I wanted; hold out for the Sonic Blue or Screaming Yellow you wnat. In the long run you'll be a lot happier.

I would do a search for the color you want. With the '06's coming shortly, you may be able to buy a new GT out there for MSRP or if you can get an x-plan pin number, order an 06 with x-plan then you can get what you want.

A word of advice, DO NOT repaint the car unless you are going to keep it forever. it kills the resale value. And you won;t get much of a paint job for $1000. It would cost almost that much just to take all the parts off such as grills, lights, and door trim just to prep it and mask it to do the job right. Yes you can probably go to Earl Scheib for a quickie paint job but it's not worth it especially on a car like that.
