Good audio set up?

So right now I have the Shaker 1000 system and was looking for a little more...So I went to Audio Express and this is the system the guy put together..

Two 10in Fosgate subs (P2's i think) in one of their premade boxes..
Panasonic dvd flip out head unit..
Kenwood 1000w amp..
4 Boston speakers..

The price he quoted was for complete install, warrenties, and re wiring the whole car for about $2000..

Sound like a good system for a good price? Any suggestions??

(I dont know car audio at all!)

Thanks!

I personally like Boston Acoustics speakers!

I can't speak directly to the price quoted but I'd think you can get the parts cheaper at Crutchfield along with local installation.

It sounds like you are missing something - no mention of the door subs? the factory subs and amps will not work with another head unit - so figure another amp, wiring and a pair of 8" for the doors (CDT Ef-8, MTX 4500). If you already have the 1000, I would reuse the sub box and add a couple of good 10" subs - Rf's are okay if stage 3's or powers series - 1's suck, 2's not much better and are definitely not my first choice - Infinity Kappa Perfect VQ's; MTX 8500's (5500's are a bargain), Boston G510's (210's are nice too at half the price). As to the amp, not knowing which Kenwood, can't say - am am more partial to MTX's and Infinity's. The Boston Acoustic 6x8's are a great choice.
Sticking with the brands you listed the Panasonic CQVD 6503 DVD Head Unit, BA S85 6x8's (2 pr), adding MTX 4500 8"'s in doors (only a few 8"fit without major modification to the door box, MTX 5500's in Shaker Box, Kenwood CAC 9152 amp for 10" plus KAC 7202 for 8", would run $1,400 for parts (see www.woofersetc.com - which I found to be the best prices on most things) plus an amp wiring kit and install. I would guess the install would be between $700 and $1200?

Wow haha Im going to have to read that a couple times. I was unaware that you needed anything else for the doors besides the Boston speakers..?

With the Shaker 500/1000 theres 2 speaker locations in the doors. There's the full range speakers up high in the door near the handle and the 8" subwoofers down low in the doors. The factory subs have their own independent amps.

Nah, the door subs and amps will work fine with ANY aftermarket HU - trust me, I know. Just make sure you get the right harness (do a search in the interior mods section - itll turn up). The proper harness has got two RCA cables to allow you to hook up the subs to your radio
