Getting an X-plan PIN#

I am aware that you can go over to Blue Oval to get an X-plan PIN#. They want the last 4 of your SS#. Is this safe, has anyone done it, and how long does it take? I've got a local dealer willing to take X-plan on a Shelby GT and I'm wondering if I shouldn't jump on it? Thanks!

Yes it is safe. They need your last for digits of your SS to get you a X-plan pin.

But the Shebly GT and GT 500 are not included in the X-plan pricing

I guess the dealer could still do the X-plan price himself but you won't need a pin.

Yes, I did it also. I got my pin # in 2 or 3 days as I recall. Once the sponser gets your info, he/she has to enter it into the system, unless like Darrell said, the dealer is offering it himself. Either way, IF you can get a Shelby with X-plan I would jump all over it.

Thanks guys. One dealer told me that X-plan was not available, which I expected, but the other said no problem. If it isn't available officially, then I won't need the PIN? That's cool. I was told this dealer was difficult to work with, too!

Let me know if you want an x-plan. I can get it for you also. I know the 2007 can be x-planned. I know of 2 white ones here in Michigan. Just pm me.

ugh, just say no to the Shelby, you already have a nice car in the same color, get a supercharger kit and change your car into something better rather then the same car with different stickers....

I hear ya, Kevin. That very thought is weighing pretty heavily on me. I've already got the intake and tune. I could do the suspension changes and add a supercharger for less than a SGT. I guess it's the whole "real" Shelby thing. I know those who have spent tons of money on their Mustangs, and will never get any more for them than what a stock vehicle would bring. They also depreciate like any other Ford does. The Shelby could at least be expected to hold its value longer, and could be considered modified, but still stock, and rather collectible. A modified GT is just considered "personalized", as it is a one of a kind. Not that I intend to get a Shelby for an investment. It would be my only daily-driver car, not a museum piece. I missed out and could never afford an original Shelby, and would never have believed that there would be a second chance. I guess I'm just afraid of missing out again. There certainly won't be a third iteration of Shelby/Ford vehicles. Thanks for your comments. They do make sense.
