Which to get?
I have not had the opportunity to sample the 500 yet, but I assume it will be similar to the Mach 460 in my '01. If so, the 500 will be more than adequate. However, I sampled the 1000 today at the Innovation Drive. Let's just say I would be able to avoid the theft debacle I had with my aftermarket audio in my F150 with that puppy!
What about you guys and gals? What are you getting/wanting etc? Is it worth the extra $1100-$1300 for the Shaker 1000?

Go 500, if it's not enogh, add on in the aftermarket. You could add 2 self-amplified bazooka tubes for less money and get similar sound.
Edit: FYI... Bazooka tubes are a subwoofer (I think up to 10 inch, maybe even 12"), in a tublar enclosure, with a self contained amplifier. Depending on which model, about the size of a medium-large fire extinguisher. Easy to hook up and can be installed in a variety of locations.

Unless you want to make sure the car next to you hears it too, then the 500 shaker will be all you need. $1200 is alot of unnecessary expenditure that could be better used on aftermarket wheels
. I plan on getting new wheels/tires after I wear out my first set of tires....... B)

Check out the thread for "Bad Disc". The CD Changer, at least for the 500 kicks discs out of the player; randomly. This will be one of those aggravating items to deal with. You may want to avoid it all, and go aftermarket.
I would not recommend spending that type of money on a ford stereo system. Don't get me wrong, they sound great and are a good deal as a stock stereo system; however, investing more money on upgrading is not wise. we all have our stories about these unreliable CD-6 changers that just DON'T WORK. I am on my third CD-6 and have given up. I keep a plastic card to help me take my CDs out. and the malfunction is with any CD, not just the ones that I burn. my cousin has the same issue with his CD-6, and then some. in fact, i have not had a ford radio yet that has gone bad. good luck on deciding

yes I HAD an s2000. It was a 3 year lease that i recently returned. Just in time for delivery of my mustang!
Dealer informed me it came in today, so hopefully picking it up after work, or earlier
depending on when they "put the car through the system"
500 here. I couldn't justify spending that extra cash on a couple subwoofers that take up my trunk space. You can almost get the glass roof from CDC for the cost of the 1000. There are loads of other aftermarket items as well, wheels, exhaust, chip retune, blah blah blah.
