Unhappy Garage doorway - 2, Shadowfax - 0

Had a problem puttin' the horse in the corale yesterday.....again!!! $820!!!

Still hadn't gotten a repair on the bumper from the first parking excursion. I'm on my way to Lowes for some of those wide angle mirrors for the garage.
Who the hell put the garage there anyway???????

Maybe it's an opportune time for the Rouch front end treatment....

Ouch, I hit the garage door trim with our Escape. It didn't mess the car up but door up the door trim. The Mustang will sit on that side when I get it and I'm REALLY vervous about hitting it again!

This is why I won't park my 'Stang in our garrage. not only is it small, I almost ripped the mirror off my 97 Sable in them. I'm now petrified to even pull toward it.

How wide is your garage? I'm in the process of getting a plan for my garage and I am going for 10ft wide.

It's a double. The wife's Pilot was in the other side and I was parinoid about being too close to it, so I moved over and !!!!!!!!!

10 Feet is plenty. Just be careful how much $&#@ you put along the sides.

I have a 12' wide ( 11 1/2 inside ) with an 8' door. I wish I had 14 or better for the width and at least a 10' door.

I thought that 12' was standard anyways....

12 x 12 for a single and 12 x 24 for a double. Maybe builders are getting cheap these days.

Talk about side of the door fright. When two Stangs are in the garage I have just a few inches from the side wall on one car, that is backed in. The second car is just inches from all the crap on the other side of the garage. The biggest thing I dislike about my house is the garage is too small and there is no way I can enlarge it, the lot is maxed out. In Twenty years I crazed the wall once. Good much too close many a time. No one can do it but me, wife will not even try and its better she doesn't.

My door is 9' wide and all though I don't have any problems pulling the car in, I'd feel alot better if it was 10' wide... minimum. This Mustang is a lot wider than any other I've had before.
If I were building a new garage, I would go with an 11-12' door and 14-16' wide garage.

Wow...we have a double door...16' wide and I nary have a problem parking my car or my wife's.

I think someone has parking issues.

I suggest getting a 2 car garage and just parking your car dead center.

Standard 2 car garage:

20' L x 20' W x 9' H - double garage door 16' x 7' H.

Standard 3 car garage:

20' L x 30' W x 9' H - double garage door 16' x 7' H, plus single door 8' x 7'H.

Since I live alone my 'Stang gets the CENTER of the 2 car side of the garage, no worries about walls, doors, etc...

Yeah... I guess I got used to seeing custom homes when I was doing construction.. I didn't realize that garages were normally that small.
Oh well... one day, when I grow up, I'm gonna have a garage that's bigger than the house. I'll have to have signs that point to the front door so people don't get mistaken.
I'll save you a spot Chief.. and I'll pad the walls with live bunnies ('cause they're super soft) just in case.

My neighbor and I built a garage for my then-new 99 Mustang GT vert. It is 20 ft wide and 24 ft deep with an 18 ft wide garage door. I put most of my stuff in the end of the garage to keep the width clear for my two cars. Haven't had any problems yet, even at my advanced age. You just gotta be careful.

I can't pull the mustang in going forward, but I can fit it in great backing up.

I wish! My single-car garage is 10' wide with an 8' wide door. I've lined the walls with adhesive-backed foam tape (the kind made for weatherstripping) at door height to prevent nicks and scratches. I have to open the driver door all the way until it hits the foam to give me enough room to squeeze out sideways. Passengers have to be let out before I drive into the garage.
