G8 Wrecked by 18 Year Old 1st Day

Anyone see this?

http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1691

It's funny because no one was hurt.

Actually, it's funny because it didn't happen to me... this time. DISCLAIMER: I wrecked two cars within three months of my 16th birthday (no one hurt, minor damage) so I know how this poor kid feels. The damage from both wrecks was $900 total NOT $12,000 (ouch). But seriously, who buys an 18 year old (who doesn't even have a driver's license) a $35,000 car with 360+ horsepower?

I wrecked my truck when I was 16 on the first day I had it coming home from school. Little bumper tap talking to girl I was giving ride home. No damage.

Answer to your question an idiot buys this car for this 18 year old. My first truck had about 100hp and might do 75mph with the wind.

That sucks for him! And by reading it, he was not even driving!

At least nobody was hurt.

Here's one for you:

Friend: Yeah man, my brother let me drive his 05 Mustang... A GT too.
Me: Uh huh, I here ya.
Friend: It's a stick too. Yeah, I can drive a stick.(He's smiling)
Me: Yep and you'll keep on driving your brothers 05 too..
The End.

Mommy and Daddy have more money than brains.
I would love to meet them.
I have some really good investment ideas for them.

Well, that didn't take long. What the heck is an 18 year old doing with a car like that anyway. Give them a Cobalt or something to start out with.

Doesn't matter who wrecked it, I'm guessing the parents don't really like their kid. Who gives a 16 yo with zero driving experiance a rwd car with that much torque?

FWD is much easier for novice drivers to handle and nothing over 120hp.

The parents are the stupid ones, can't blame the kid for being dumb, we all are at that age. I have no doubt had I been given something like that I'd have wrapped it around a tree lmao

Agreed, I did plenty of stupid stuff when I was younger, fortunately my car barely had 180hp haha

He's 18 w/o his license yet.. how do you get to be 18 and not have a license ? There is no way my parents would have bought me any car close to that. I had to buy my first $500 dollar car and then put tires on it and prove I had insurance before I could even drive it. If you don't earn it you'll never respect it, at that age especially.

Got my GT at 19. Drive it like an old man, and occasionally let her rip on highway on ramps. Its just fun to know all that power is there.

Tell that to the majority of your peers, ultimately it comes down to practical experience or lack there of given the deplorable driver's ed program that exsists in the US.

You're just getting started, and in many ways it's a lot more complicated than rocket science.

That's easy. In NJ, you can only get a learner's permit at 16. You can get a license at 17, and I believe the recent laws require you to be on probation until 18.

In MI, I hear you get a learner's permit at 15 and can get licensed at 16 with a 1 year probation. Nonetheless, you start driving at 15-16. I can't even fathom buying a car and driving it to school in my freshman/sophomore year. I only started driving in my senior year of high school with a 130 hp 1981 T-bird when it was running, otherwise it was a sub-100 hp Dodge K-car.
