I had a guy ask me if my Mustang was front wheel drive. I dont know why he did but when I told him it was rear wheel drive he replied "Thank God for small miracles."
So that got me to thinking would any buy the Mustang if it was offered ONLY in front wheel drive?

Naw. Ford contemplated doing that before but thought better of that and came out with the Probe instead. While the Probe is a great car --eck, I've even got one -- ain't a Mustang.

If the Mustang was switched over to a front wheel drive platform, I'd turn my back.... I've got Mustang tattoos.... that's how serious I am about Mustangs... I'd never be able to accept a FWD. That would be the day the Mustang died...... and awful, cruel death.

And, who was the one that voted "yes?"
And another for the one that voted "it doesn't matter"

If it was all that they offered I would probably still get one. I am just as loyal to Ford as I am the Mustang. If there was only a FWD, I would buy it over it jumping ship...

Leave it to GM, they'll prolly do it! 4 cyl, turbo, fwd, new, improved Camaro. On the front row with the new, improved GTO.

I voted no. I would still love it because it was a Mustang, but I wouldn't buy it.

The Probe was supposed to be the new FWD Mustang back in the 80's.
If they had done it, the Mustang would have been extinct long ago. :notnice:

I'm glad John Colletti stepped in.. he's the one that saved the Mustang from becoming FWD in the 80's in the first place... But, yeah..... no way should there ever be a FWD Mustang. It would take away everything the Mustang stands for.

There is NO way...NO how...I would ever consider a FWD Mustang. It could not be a Mustang unless it was RWD.

There is NO WAY I would buy a front wheel drive mustang. There are tons of other front wheel drives out there to chose from .All my other viehicles are trucks because I could not find a good rear wheel drive that I liked till the new 05 showed up.

As stated above ford tried this in the 1980's and got so much hate mail, petitions, and people at ford even received death threats. Ford changed the name of the new front drive mustang platform to probe and continued making the mustang on the fox platform.

I think that sums up how mustang fans feel about a front drive mustang.

I CALL FRT WHEEL DRIVE , INCORECT WHEEL DRIVE. NO WAY.
That would be crazy if ford did that. Changes the whole handling and feel of the car. I wouldn't buy one. It would be vette time for me or wait for the new camaro.
