I do not know if this has been posted, I have searched and didn't find anything.

The videos are depressing from the point of view of 2 cars getting totalled (inc a Redfire, Dan!!) but reassuring that the car is so solid.

NCAP test the 05 mustang

Great info! Thanks a lot!! It's good to see that the car rated so well. I wasn't expecting the side impact rating to be so good.

Thanks again.

Isn't this the first time they've put the Mustang through the crash tests?

If you look at the stats on the vehicles, you'd see that these cars weren't equiped with the optional side air bags.

It was posted awhile back, but the side crash tests hadn't been completed at that time.

Wow four stars without side air bags is great. One would expect that with side air bags, you would get 5 stars. Would be funny though if you still had four stars with the side airbags. I feel comfortable now that I didn't order with side air bags.

I agree, hard to watch such fine cars get crashed, but it good
to see they are well built.

I wonder what happens to the cars afterwards? Does Ford still own them?

Does Ford get to take them back for study? Reuse undamaged parts?

Thank you for the updated info WOW! Still we’ll be going with the side air bags, for the hat trick of 5 stars. (Assumption, on my part after viewing other results).
Now if we could only get the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety to do the 40 MPH FRONTAL OFFSET CRASH TEST on the Mustang, they are the best measure of a vehicle's structural design, but for some reason they never done Mustangs.

oh, Jay...u r good. Not trying to hate on v6's, but I think there are too many and not enough v8's...my dealer has 20something v6's and not a single v8! and every 2005 I see around here is a v6
