I took my 06 GT in for its first oil change today, and I noticed that all the Mustangs, V6 and GT, had this additonal sticker on them. It listed a dealer-added extra, "Fuel Maximizer", for $500.

I asked a salesman what it was, and he said he wasn't sure except for he "heard" it was some extra fan under the hood that increases gas mileage by 2-3 MPG.
He also said all new 2006's had it. When I told him mine didn't have it when I bought it 2.5 months ago, he didn't know what to say.

So anyway, I took a pic of the sticker to see if any of you guys have either heard of this, or have any guesses as to what he heck it could be.

You should approach one of the managers and ask him about it.

It might be one of those stupid "TORNADO" things you can find at a place like AutoZone. Its a fan-looking thing you stick in your intake that creates a "VORTEX!!!" which creates "BETTER COMBUSTION" and "INCREASED MILEAGE WOO!" lol.... I'm not too sure about the price but I know you could pick it up for less than $495. Heck I'd bet money you could pick one up for less than $100.

Mark up on dealer installed parts/labor is usually huge so it doesn't surprise me to see a 10x price mark up. I like the previous poster's comment of "Stupid Tax".

I get more amazed every day as to how low and slimy many dealers have become in their never ending quest to add profit to a car sale.

That's the biggest bunch of crap I've ever seen. I wouldn't touch that place with a 10 foot pole.

Its pretty pathetic that the dealer is charging for phony products to maximize their profits. What next? charging for the air in the tires.

none of that crapola works...it's all a scam...you can't do anything minor to the engine to increase mpg...other that putting a different one in! It all the way you drive. Don't fall for all those gimmicks! We didn't buy our stangs for mileage!
Besides they get pretty good mileage for what they are! ALL MUSCLE!

It would be nice, although a bit pricy compared to us doing it, if it were for a reflashed PCM.
I doubt it though.

Dealer tried to sell me etching on window (vin #) for 2000. Bahaaa! He said I was the first one who bought a stang that didn't get it and with the popularity of the stang ,it is a must have for police to identify. Talk about snorting water out of my nose!!

Ya, I'd say it is a scam. Same with dealers wanted to sell the glass etching, or even better, panel etching. They wanted to charge me $200.00 to add the panel etching. I asked "What is it"? "well." the salesman says" we put stickers on all the metal panels on the car. They are serialized so it deters theft." I asked how so he said "if a car thief sees the sticker he won't take the car, because the parts are worthless." I asked "Can;t they just remove the sticker". So he said "well, if they remove the sticker it leaves the serial number sort of etched in the paint". So being the smart hiney that I am I said "I can see how that would deter a thief. After all, the last thing they want to deal with when repainting a car is having to grind that area and prime it." Needless to say, he didn't sell me the stickers.
