FRPP vs. Ford part question

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a stock 2007 GT500 Cobra hood and am confused as to why the FRPP part compared to the same part (slightly different part number) is so much less expensive than the OEM part (around 1/2 the price). Not only that but FRPP part INCLUDES the hood vents where the OEM part does not.

FORD OEM part # is: 7R3Z-16612-C
FRPP part # is: M-16612-C

I thought I remembered reading that Ford Racing is actually part of the Ford Motor Co., but I could be wrong. So what is the deal, is there a difference in quality???
Thanks,
Mark

The exact reason, I can't really explain, since I'm in sales and not parts. But if you would like a good read, KC posted a topic in his OEM parts section why prices are the way they are the way they are.

I found three different websites from Ford selling Ford parts.FRPP,Ford Accessories and Ford Genuine Acceories.I found that Ford Genuine Accessories had a better price on the CS bumper cover and came with parts not listed on the other websites. It pays to shop, save a buck and buy more mod goodies.

It depends, Ford Racing has different price levels, large stocking dealers get a huge discount on ford racing stuff, regular non-stocking dealers can barely afford to sell Ford Racing stuff at MSRP since the margin is so low. All dealers pay the same price for regular Ford parts. They are the same parts, owned by the same company, but they operate as separate divisions. So they price things differently. Ford racing charges dealers shipping costs, ford parts does not for one example, many differences.

It's just the way it is....parts listed in the Accessory catalog and FRPP are cheaper than over the counter....and this is not just Ford. I recently looked at Foglights for my Magnum and a single light from Dodge was $129....BUT...in the accessory catalog I could buy the entire kit which was 2 lights, wiring, factory headlight switch with foglights and bumper trim bezels for $120. The same thing happened on the cargo pull shade for the same car....dealer price through regular channels was $287....but buy it from the same dealer only through the accessory catalog part number was $84.

ALWAYS check accessory books and factory performance catalog offerings first....prices are always cheaper there.

I recently got my GT/CS bumper kits from a dealer that sells online and was offering free shipping, it was a much better deal than anywhere else I had seen. Both bumpers and everything needed to install were $754 shipped. (Genuine Accessories kits)

Ford factory parts are designed to billed into repair costs warranty or otherwise and for body repair. FRPP parts are priced to be sold on the retail market and are priced in line with other aftermarket parts.

Thats why if you tank a rim and go to get it as a replacement PART, its about $300, if you order one from FRPP they are about $150 for the same thing. They are produced in numbers, packaged and distributed for the purpose of being sold in quantity to the public, not for completely random occurrences such as hitting a curb where you order a specific part from factory stock. Motorcraft service parts like filters, plugs, brake pads, and the like are structured the same way.
