I've had a strange popping noise in the front streering..It only happens while parking the car.. moving it into and out of the stalls turning it hard right or left ...under normal driving it makes no noise, speed bumps no noise ...I had it at the dealer last week for my first oil change..I had one of tech's drive it around the parking lot and he heard it as well and thought it was strange..I told him I'd bring it back in after the holidays to have them try and find it...Yesterday while washing the car I was cleaning up inside the front fender wells and found the shields were loose..I can move them around freely with my hand..Forward and backward..
Could some of you let me know if your front wheel well shields are loose or secure in place...Just thought it would be a good place to start looking for the popping sound...

Tracy, the wheel well splash guards are in 2 pieces on each side, and the split (seam) is at the top. B) As far as your question: shine a flashlight in there if it's dark, and you should see the mounting buttons (about the size of a dime). If ones missing, then you should see a hole. Can't remember for sure how many are on each side......6 or so (including top seam).

I have heard these popping noises also. I currently am in Florida, but I will be having the dealer check it out when I get back. I don't know how much they will be able to do though, it seems to happen sporatically and I can't reproduce it.

My car will also pop sometimes over bumps. Anyone else seen this one?

I don't get popping over bumps more of a sound like an over inflated ball bouncing. Like a basketball with to much air.

Giddyup,
I'll look for the mounting buttons...I could feel the split..And can move the splash guard halfs independitly with my hands..It's the same on both sides..Kind of looks like Ford forgot to button mine down...anyone else's loose like mine?

You might want to dig through the posts of the last 4 weeks + or -. I remember that someone’s nose turn out to suspension parts that were replaced under warrantee.
