I think there are more than one, but I have no idea where or what they look like.

First generation Airbags used 3 or 4 sensors across the front of the car. If you tripped 2 or 3 or them the airbags blew. The problem was if you hit a tree or pole you could get the deceleration that required an airbag but didn't trigger more than 1 sensor.

Cars now (especially with side and curtain airbags) just use accelerometers to decide which airbags to trigger and how hard to trigger them.

So the short answer is there aren't any impact sensors.

If you have access to the factory service manual (or DVD), it has a section that shows every single sensor, connector and wire harness on the car. I don't have mine with me here, or I would look it up for you.

Just out of curiosity, what do you need the sensors/accelerometers for?

Normally the sensors are located near the front sidemembers. Maybe they contain an accelerometer, but the sensors are definately there on modern cars. I haven't had the front bumper off of this car, but I'll see if I can look for it.

Hmm, thats definately kind of strange. They shoul be there, or someone could be sued if there had been some sort of injury...I dont know for sure where they're at, but they should be somewhere either behind the front bumper, or on the front crossmember.

If a sensor was bad, it should pop a MIL. Have a dealer run a test on the car's computer to make sure nothing's been tampered with.
Got a pic of the crash? People always ask why their airbags don't go off. I simply ask if their head hit the windshield or body hit the wheel hard. If the answer is no, then they probably shouldn't have gone off. The systems are pretty 'smart' and normally know when to deploy.
But, if you have your suspicions, then definately look into it.
