Sorry for the repost from another area but I am new here and just found this section.

Who has gotten right front suspension noise coming from their 05 06 mustang GT?

It shows up only when driving over RUTTY type parts in the road even railroad tracks.
NOT from large holes in the road or pot hole types, just from ripples in the road.
It DOES NOT happen only when turning, it occurs any time. Straight driving or turning.

It sounds like a Loose CV joint that would come from a Front wheel drive car.
Of course the Mustang does not have CV joints but I have driven cars that do and this has the same sound.

Now I say it comes from the front but I am not sure of this, it's just a guess.

I took it to the dealer, only 300 miles on it, and they said it's nothing, it's normal. Everything is tight.
IT IS NOT!!!
No other car I have had or driven has this NORMAL sound unless something is loose or wrong.

So, Anyone else?
Any suggestions on a fix?
Anything? I only have 745 miles on it now and the body is being converted so I'm stuck with the vehicle.

Drove me 06 gt today with only 1500 miles. Mine makes the same noise..I too took it in and the dealer told me everything was tight, I'm taking it back again next week. I read something about struts that needed tighting thats my guess. At first I thout a brake caliper was loose, but I ruled that out because it does not "Klunk" under hard brakeing conditions.

I'm getting this too, exactly as you describe it. It's a deep knock/klunk on the right side when driving over crappy roads. Something is definately lose, but it's too cold to start tearing doors apart or crawling under the car. Thinking I'll take it to the dealer as well and see if they can find something. Need to get it done before I put the new springs in or they'll just blame it on that!!!

3700 miles, same noise on mine, slow speeds rutted roads...glad to hear it not only mine doing it!
apparently no big deal, I have eibach lower springs installed and thought maybe it had something to do with that.

My 06 GT does the same. Took it to the dealer after 600 miles. They said they retorqued everything in the front and drove another new 06 and said its normal.

My '05 has had the right front clunk since day one - 14 months and 7500 miles. It is very noticeable at low speeds on the crap they call roads around here. Also, when I hit one of those good potholes something is definitely loose on the right side. Drivers side sounds tight. The service dept. plays dumb and says "we don't hear anything out of the ordinary". It seems to be louder on cold days for the first few miles or I could be just be more aware of it during the first few miles. Either way, it's no good and it's the worst thing about my car. OK, it's probably a toss up between that and the driveshaft vibration. Thank god for the Borla's!

Thanks!

There seems to be quite a few experiencing this issue. It would appear to be different from the tsb concerning the front end clunk as my Jan 06 build has the rubber sleeves on the springs and would assume the revised bearings.

Judging by the numbers already, there will probably be a tsb out on this in the future. The way I look at it is, just because the service tech drove another 06 and it was doing it, doesnt make it (or anything for that matter) "normal".

Ok kids, yes the Mustang-not just GT cars, have this noise which I have spoken to Ford tech hotline about, the best description would be a chuckle type noise. It is definitely not a safety/durability concern-the vehicles which have been brought in to my shop have shown no external causes. ***Replacing components will not correct the noise.***

My car also exhibits this concern.

In my conversation with hotline they have no known issues. If your service provider has not called the techline for assistance, please ask them to place a call to the hotline. The more input we can get, the faster someone will take notice that this concern must be corrected.

Unfortunately, when a vehicle exhibits a performance aspect that other vehicles of the same configutation have, it is considered normal. This is not my verbage, just Fordspeak.

Just my .02 worth.

Same issue here on my 05 GT with 6500 miles on it. I haven't taken it in to the dealer yet but I assume I will get a similar "it is normal" response

I have had this noise since I picked up my car in October 2005. Noticed it on day 1. I have a 2006 Mustang GT. It sounds like a loose shock/strut. I've been to the shop twice. They spent about 10 hours on it and can't find anything. First they told me it was normal. Then I insisted they look at it again. It can't be normal for the driver's side to not make the noise and the passenger side makes the noise. Funny thing is I do not hear the noise at high speed. Only 0-20 or so. Small bumps like going over a sewer lid or turning into a driveway triggers the noise. Definately seems like it's in the right front suspension. I'll bet a bushing or spring insulator is missing. My dealership reported it and is waiting for advice from Ford. They can't do anything until Ford gives them further instructions.

BTW, any of you guys have a manual tranny and this problem? Mine is auto. I don't know why this would be a factor but I just wonder what else is common about us all. I also have the premium interior, shaker 500, IUP, and active anti-theft. I have two friends whose cars were made within a week of mine and they do not have the issue. They have manual trannys.

My '05 is a manual and I have decribed my noise the same way you did. Something just isn't tight in the right front. I hate to admit it, but I feel better knowing that so many others have it. Now, we all need a fix!

What really irks me is Ford's assertion that there is no danger. If they don't know what it is how can they assure us of that? True there is no proof there is a danger. But if one side of the suspension makes a noise and one side doesn't it needs to be taken seriously. When I called in and reported the issue they said my car needs to be looked at right away and that any suspension noise could be a serious issue. If I was out of my warranty period and rolled in with this issue they would have tore my car apart, figured it out and handed me a hefty bill for their trouble.

I hope the number of people here shows them they need to aggressively investigate and keep us happy. I know a front end specialist who told me he'd look at the car when he gets some time. But if he figures it out he wants Ford to agree to pay him for the answer. I doubt they will.

Yep
2006 GT, Yellow 17' factory rims

Mine was built in October and I got it in Nov when I got back from Japan

It is an automatic/premium.
I had Lojack installed thru the dealer and a GPS DVD system along with a aftermarket alarm installed also.
The sound remained so it is not interior parts. I guess.

Now the body has been taken apart for the Body mods being installed and I will see if it is still there when it is done.
Also installing side ehausts so we will see if its something in the ehausts pipes.

I talked to a guy that said he had a similar problem with his 98. Then he changed the tires and rims and it went away. But that might have been the sound when turning occurance.
Another guy said if it was a strut issue you'll never get rid of it because the taurus' had a similar problem.
Which seems to be a pattern I am hearing. These Mustangs are getting similar problems like the Taurus.
Didn't know they had similar parts.

I can see this is going to be a problem.

But I would like it if we could find out WHY some have the noise and others do not.

I wonder if it is just something like the antenna mount or something in the fender well that is making the noise or something in the body thats loose.
Because if something is truly loose in the suspension I would think it would make the noise when hitting a bigger hole not just ruts and train tracks

My v6 has the same issue. Mine sounds sort of hollow on the right side.
dealer said everything was normal.

i also have the 1500rpm vibration problem.

took it in and they put dampners on but it still vibrates. ive read some posts that said when they changed mufflers it went away.

stuff under the car and a controller and headphone set.

im on vacation this week so i dont have time to work on the car, besides i didnt want to go anywhere near the

I don't know what the heck happened to the other topic w/ the fix that worked for me was, but have the dealer tighten the retaining nuts on your vertical swaybar links

diagram to follow shortly

I sure hope this is the simple fix for everyone. Thanks for the excellent diagram! Isn't there another vertical link on the driver's side of the car? If so, you'd think the problem would show up on that side too. Unless, the installer is only working on the right suspension and something is out of spec.

Drew - YOU DA MAN!!!! I pulled my front wheels the other day and sho 'nuff, the top bolt needed tightening. The bottom one was snug though. The top one was the only one that was removed when I put my Eibach Pro springs on last year. The thing must have come loose over the course of a year because my car never had the clunk until about 2 weeks ago. As of yesterday, the car was rock solid over every type of road surface. Thanks again!

Oh and for those of you who are going to check this - you'll need an 8mm socket to hold the bolt, and a 3/4" open end wrench to hold the nut in place. Turn the bolt to the left to tighten it

There's a vertical link on both sides of the front end.

And here I thought I was going crazy. I have been listening for this for a month now. I have concluded at least for my car it happens on sharp bump in the road. Transitions from asphalt to concrete or like stated before a RR track. I am now so happy I can fix this tonight Awesome!!!!
