Now, the stock system is really nice sounding, and it looks like Magnaflow got all of 6 HP out of their aftermarket cat-back system, so if Flowmaster calls me back, it's not like this is the hottest modification in the world.
HOWEVER, let me note that the hanger welds on the stainless exhaust system show surface rust. So the Flowmaster may add a cosmetic as well as technical enhancement to the car.
We shall see...

This would be a great deal for those in bay area. any ino yet. mufflers only, tail pipes, cat-back? Do you get to pick the series 30,40,50 series. Is it first come first served. I'm in if it's still going on i Dec 2. I will drive right from the dealer and rent a room a night or two
I left a message and will post info if they call me back tomorrow

With the 2005 already having 2.5" mandrel bent pipes, there isn't much to be gained in changing the exhaust. Most will swap mufflers for sound and asthetic reasons. I didn't care for the sound of the Magnaflows though, the Flowmasters should have the deep rumble which will better suit the retro style of the new Mustang.

Also, the Flowmaster systems they show on their website are aluminized steel vs. stainless steel. In some ways, it may be going BACKWARDS from stock.
I'll have to wait until I hear back from them, naturally.

Well if its just exhaust axle back...it could be an easy change.
So if your worried about rust etc during the winter months, you can always go back to stock

I spoke with Joe Hayes (R&D) and I'm first in line for the V8 (they are looking for V6 as well). He uses a local dealer normally, but availability is tight (as we all know). He's supposed to know today/tomorrow if the dealer will let him use a car. Once they get it in, I doubt they'll let it out of the dealership for 2-3 days, though (as well as allowing WOT dyno testing!).
They are going to measure and try a full exhaust system, cat back. But he's never seen the car, so he doesn't know which connections are flanged, welded, etc. I sent him some pictures.
The type of muffler (40, 50, etc.) depends. They just don't know what they are going to sound like on the car yet, and if they drop it on and it's WAY to noisy in the car, they'll go back to the drawing board.
I'll keep you posted.

Ah yes, they will do before/after dyno runs.
I also have the opportunity to get a reduced cost SuperChips XCalibrator with a free set of before/after dyno runs from a local dyno shop, just so they can get their hands on the car. I might negotiate before/after on stock, plus before/after on Flowmaster if this all works out. Then we'll see the effects of the Flowmaster vs stock, and of Superchips vs stock on stock muffler, and SCT on Flowmaster... nice!
