ford racing procal 2 unlocking

What's up fellas,

I am trying to sell a tuner from the frpp cai on ebay. I heard the tuner is locked to the cars pcm unit. Does anyone know how to unlock it so other ppl can use it on there 05-09 stang?

Note I had bought it off a friends who had an 05 and I have an 08. It didn't work until he told ford that he bought a new car and he had to give them my vin number so they can send a new chip. That was after I tried it 3 times. Thanks everyone

For $150, Ford Racing will reset the tool for the new car. Actually, I believe they will just send a new SD card for the correct VIN. I bought the whole CAI/procal II for $200 on ebay. FR told me to send the whole tool to them, to reset it for my car. They called me a couple of days later and told me that they really only needed to send me a SD card to replace the one that was in it. Because of the misunderstanding they waived all the charges. Call Ford Racing 800-367-3788 to confirm.

You have to return the previously tuned car back to stock or pay the manufacturer of the tuner to unlock the tuner. I know Sct charges 150 to unlock a tuner I font know about ford

Not that I am an advocate of this action but, I am surprised nobody has figured out how to hack into these devices to reset them. They could make a small fortune doing this.

I dont think that it would be illegal to reset a used tuner that you purchased and had it reset for your vehicle. On the other hand, using one tuner and a single tune then continually reseting to download the same tune on several different vehicles might get you in trouble much like distributing the same copy of an OS for a bunch of different computers would get you in trouble.

Which reminds me, I had the FRPP CAI and tune on my 07 GT when I traded it in for my current ride, a few days later the Ford dealer called me and told me I needed to pick up the tuner I had left in the car. I told then that the tuner belonged with the car and whoever bought it.

I seriously wonder if they left the tuner with the car??? I had the calibration sticker afixed the radiator cover and it plainly indicated the car needed 91 octane, given that they didn't even realize that the tuner needed to stay with the car, I wonder if they neglected to tell the new owner that it needed 91 octane fuel as well.
