Exclamation Ford Racing Cold Air Kit

I purchased last week for my 05 Mustang GT the 90mm Cold Air kit for my car M-9603-GT06. Great, but the kit does not come with the calibration tool needed which I understand that kit is made for 2005-06 Mustang GT's with factory gears thus the tool for calibraiting the car is different. Ok here is the hitch I can't and after talking to Ford Racing Parts at last one other person last week is having the same problem you can register for the tool. Who else has had this problem. One of things I was told when I call Ford was " we made a M9603-GT05A kit for you car". I never saw that listed in my 2006 Ford Racing Parts Catalog or on the Racing Parts website. Did anybody on here get that kit? I have email ford now several times I am trying to get from them the calibration tool so I can get my kit into my car. From all accounts the part should work in my car the current 2007 catalog and ford own website caims so. Anyway any news or what Ford my have done for you in my shoes would be great news. Right now I have a $690 box of parts not doing anything for me

You can buy an Xcal2 and get better tunes than what will be on the Ford calibration tool.

I have read in two different publications that there is a GT05A and a GT06A kit for the Mustang GT..I would check with some of the aftermarket parts sites and see if they can help!...The Ford Racing site doesn't list a few of there add-ons , when I got my 06 GT, Auto I wanted to use a Ford performance pack, I could not find one listed by Ford Racing so I went with a C&L CAI with a SCT tuner but a couple weeks ago! while surfing some performance site I found out there is one! Ford Racing is just like the rest of Ford ( one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing ) Keep looking and Good Luck!

Good question and one I have written ford about. I don't know if they make what should be the correct kit anymore. If they do then that is what I plan on doing. My only possible issue would be with the place I got the part from in the first place.

If I remember correctly, the FRPP kit is made by Steeda.

The part numbers for these products are confusing to say the least. You need to be sure you have the right part number for your model year and your transmission. Check the link for the pdf file. Below is summary of the correct part numbers.

FRPP Cold Air Kits Part #'s
2005 Manual = M-9603-GT05
2005 Auto = M-9603-GT05A
06/07 Manual = M-9603-GT06
06/07 Auto = M-9603-GT06

FRPP Power Pack Part #'s
2005 Manual = M-2005-FR1
2005 Auto = M-2005-FR1A
06/07 Manual = M-2006-FR1
06/07 Auto = M-2006-FR1

FRPP Drag Pack Part #'s
2005 Manual = M-2005-FR2
2005 Auto = M-2005-FR2A
06/07 Manual = M-2006-FR2
06/07 Auto = M-2006-FR2A

Here is the bad part after my stop by my Ford Racing dealer today I was going to try and get the 05GTA kit for my car. I was told it was discontinued and I should buy the 06GT kit. Now the freakin beats all. I have the right part according to ford now. All I need the pro cal tool. this is crazy why list on your site and in your catalog that the 06GT kit will work on my car that you have to register for the tool. That part makes since, but they don't currently support it on the site and that might change. I hope it does.

I went through this when I purchased the cold air kit for my 07 at the same time I bought the car. What I learned was that the calibration for the 07 wasn't available at the time that I actually ordered it. NBumerous calls between Ford Racing, myself, and the parts department, and I still waited until the calibration was completed (Almost 3 months).

I would talk to Ford racing directly. They should be able to tell you if the kit is still available. One of the problems that I learned is that these calibrations are changing constantly during the course of the year in order to meet Federal standards. If you are concerned about warrnaty as I was, you really need to go through the dealer. If not, My dielaer indirectly told me that my kit was really manufactured by Steeda ("Well we really can't confirm that fact" GRIN- GRIN- GRIN)

First off thanks for everybody's help on this issue. I am lucky with my Ford dealer, my father was the general manager there so I don't have problems with them. I was told in an email this afternoon to get an old 05GT kit that is not made now but I have tracked down and old kit if I can send off the procal tool to be reprogramed. So I have hopes. I just hope are realised.

What a difference a day makes. I have to say a lot for Ford Racing people. When I got up today to go to work I had a voice-mail on my phone from Ford Racing. They are going to ship me the correct pro-cal tool that I need for the kit I have so that was nice.

I would say that your both correct, ordered mine direct from Steeda almost a year ago along with the SCT X-cal II and I'm glad I went with the X-cal instead of the Frpp pro calibration tool..

I lived down near Steeda and I purchased mine there. The Steeda unit is exactly the same unit with different stickers! The reason I went with the steeda is for the problem you are having I was warned by Steeda was an issue with the single calibration tool that FRPP has. Steeda employees are an incredible resource if you need help with this.
