Ford OEM Paint

Does anyone know what brand of paint Ford uses? I have some parts to paint and I would like to use the same brand of paint. I know some of my Roush parts say to use Dupont but i thought Ford used BASF.

Does it matter, as long as the color and surface texture match?

I wasn't aware that the brand name would need to be the same to get a perfect match, since most paint is computer mixed today and the application conditions, equipment, and skill of the sprayer affect the overall quality of the job.

It probably doesnt but I was just wanting to use the same brand just in case. Most paint that I have used is mixed by people and if they dont put the right amount of a certain color in the mix it doesnt turn out right and most people around here use the cheaper brands of paint to save them money, so I wanted to purchase my own so I will know what I am getting.

Your approach makes sense. I just remember the old days when the painters had to have the paint mixed for them by a paint retailer. Now they can scan and computer match paints with their own mixing stations. I guess matching Grabber Orange could be a little more tricky some other colors.

I have seen some that didnt matche at all and some that had to feathered into the rest of the car and i dont really want to do that, but most of the Roush's that you see at the dealers have a great match.

i know that i only have three places i can get Dupont Pepper Grey and that is Unique Performance (which they will not sell but will paint for a good price), Napa auto parts, and a Hot Hues dealer, other then that no one else can match the color

Ford bodyshops use different paint from dealer to dealer anyways. Might want to check the label on the touchup paint from the parts counter.
