Ford will begin giving it's employees $$ for every PIN they hand out between now and 9/30 and they have increased the amount of pin numbers each employee can give out to 8. Here is the article Ford pays workers to sell cars

The automaker offers up to $1,000 if retirees, employees line up family, friends to buy vehicles.

By Christine Tierney / The Detroit News

Ford's new plan

Under Ford's plan, employees receive $50 in cash for the first sale they sponsor, $75 for the second, $100 for the third and $150 for the following four sales. They get $175 for the eighth sale, for a maximum of $1,000.

Ford Motor Co. is offering employees and retirees up to $1,000 in cash to line up friends, relatives and neighbors to buy vehicles with employee discounts in a bid to boost slumping demand.

The automaker is allowing each of its 300,000 employees and retirees to hand out special discounts to up to eight people this year.

"If every employee and retiree helps sell just one more vehicle, it would account for over 300,000 sales and an additional two points of market share," Steve Lyons, vice president for Ford's North America marketing, sales and service, said in an e-mail sent to employees Wednesday.

Ford's move follows General Motors Corp.'s monthlong effort to pump up demand by offering all customers the same discounts it gives employees.

Under Ford's plan, which runs through Sept. 30, employees and retirees will get $50 in cash for the first sale they sponsor, $75 for the second, $100 for the third, and $150 for the following four sales. They get $175 for the eighth sale, for a total of $1,000.

The employee discounts will be added to traditional incentives, such as cash rebates. All U.S. and foreign Ford brands, including Volvo, Land Rover and Jaguar, are eligible for the discounts. The automaker is trying to reverse a 5.7 percent drop in sales this year and a 1 percentage-point dip in market share to 19.1 percent.

The program comes in response to employees who told Ford officials they could sell more cars if they could give away more discounts.

Each year, Ford employees and retirees are allocated four personal identification numbers, or PINs, for A-plan employee discounts that they can distribute to immediate family members. They also get four PINS for X-plan discounts, which they can give to anybody. A-plan pricing is 3 to 4 percent below dealer invoice; X-plan prices are 1.5 percent below invoice.

Under the new plan, employees will get four additional X-plan PINs. Any combination of eight A-plan and X-plan sales will earn them $1,000. If they have PINs left over after Sept. 30, they can still give them to family and friends, but they will not be eligible for the cash rewards.

To count toward the cash bonus, a vehicle must be purchased by the end of the promotion period.

Garland, Texas, Ford dealer Jerry Reynolds is thrilled with the program because it brings in customers that don't normally buy Fords.

"It's plus business for us."
in the Detroit Free press.

Now if they would just give Ford employees allocation we would be all set.

That's what I would call one-stop-shopping.

The unfortunate part pertaining to mustang sales is that they are in such high demand, most dealers would forego that measly incentive when they can refuse to accept the x plan and charge the customer a couple thousand over MSRP

Since this just came out, is any Ford employee willing to generate a X-plan PIN for me?

My dad got the email yesterday about it.

Too bad there are dealerships that screw people over and in turn make the company look bad. Even though Ford dealerships are not FORD.

I got an X plan pin number for a friend of mine. The dealership said they would except X plan so she "ordered" her car.

Turns out because of supply and demand (I understand that this happens) her car became an 06 model.. ok, fine and dandy.. it went up in price a little.. ok, no problem... and we are no longer excepting X plan on an 06.. but it's only $2400 more than X plan. And... get this.. they NEVER ordered her car.

You lying sacs of poo!! (It'll get censored, but trust me, I used the real word.)

My friend is now getting her car from my salesman. And Ford knows about this other dealership. They messed with the wrong family.

What is the difference for the dealer between selling Xplan and selling at MSRP?

Over the past few months, people have asked for PIN numbers over on Blue Oval News Forum and, it appeared, were not well received by the employees, although some did step up and help those who asked. Now I bet they can't wait for people to ask.......

I asked ISellFord and 05stang that and what they said was that if a dealer sells on x-plan then the get 4% over invoice from Ford (which is just over 1000 over invoice on a car with an invoice of about 27,000). Not quite as much as they would make on MSRP which seems to be generally about 2500 over invoice.
In my case, I was offering 500 over invoice but since they will make twice that from an x-plan sale and i will pay about 500 less on x-plan I am hoping they will take that instead since we will both come out better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, X plan is 2% over invoice whereas a couple thousand over MSRP is probably $3K+ more. Back when I had an 05 on order with Xplan, the cost was somewhere around $24K or $26K when the MSRP was $28K. I think I have that right.

What I said or meant to say is that X-plan is very close to invoice BUT Ford pays the dealer a 4% commission of invoice less freight so the dealer actually makes about 3.75% over invoice even though it sells for just under invoice. Hope this clears things up.

Just so I'm clear on this, if I get and X-plan pin today, and order 2 or 3 weeks, when do I give them my pin number. Right when I order the car right? It will still be valid and get my my discount in 4 or 6 months when the car comes in, event though this program ends in 9/30/05.

Reading the article it sounds like anyone can use an X-plan (as long as you can find a dealer willing to take the profit). You don't have to be an employee, relative, or even a friend. Also, the people elligible to give someone an X-plan will make money if a car is bought with that X-plan. Did I read this right?

I'm willing to go order my 06 GT Vert Premium on Monday if someone has an X-plan PIN they want to give out (and I can find a dealer who wants my money).

There is no way to sugar coat this: I need a X-plan pin I will be ordering my 06 GT with the next 3 weeks, and I have a confirmed dealer who will take it!!!!!!!! This will be the second Mustang I own; the first is my 65 Fastback that I bought when I was 16. Any love out there?

Got my pin number

I have been saving for a new mustang for the last couple of years, and I am slowly but surely getting closer to achieving my goal. It looks like I might be able to purchase one by the end of this year on my own, but it would be awesome if there was someone generous enough to give me an X-plan pin, and maybe I could get it earlier! It seems like forever ago when I first saw the Mustang concept..

Edit: It feels good to finally post for the first time on this site. Tons of excellent information that has helped immensely.

If you are very nice and respectful, there are some people over at Blue Oval Forums that might give you a PIN. Please don't spam their site though, read through the posts first and if you see someone offering one probably PM them.

From my own recent experience using an X-Plan pin, be sure to get the name of the Ford employee who provided it to you. It was requested at the point of purchase. I was under the impression that it wasn't necessary, but there was an actual form for it.
