Foglight Reflector Haze
Foglight Reflector Haze
The other night I had the headlights and the center foglights on. I had to get out of my car on the driveway to move something and it was the first time I looked at the foglights when they were on. They looked like the lenses were all fogged up or dirty, especially when compared to the clean headlights. Further inspection revealed that the lenses weren't dirty, but the reflectors had a haze on them. It was almost like when you get that hazy film on the inside of your windshield. Both foglights were exactly the same and you can see the haze on the reflector during the day when they are off. It's hard to see it on the reflector when it's off, but it's there. I see that there's a little vent hole at the top of the reflector. Is this hazing common to the GT's foglights, or did I just get lucky enough to get a bum pair on my new '07? Thanks.
Ok, before I get the old
Here they are. I posted a pic of the headlight too so you can see the difference in the clarity. If you're wondering why there's 3 clear lines in the foglight, it's because the light is blocked from the shield that covers the bulb.

I have a similiar issue. One foglight is noticeably brighter than the other because of this very issue. I tried replacing the bulbs, so that's not the issue. I figure if it gets any worse, I'll have it addressed. As it is, ehh...I dunno. It bothers me but not enough to deal with at the moment.

I thought mine were having this problem a few months ago- one day noticed the reflectors were all 'smoky' looking. One day washing it a few weeks later (car was cold) noticed they were fine...I think I was just seeing condensation after shutting them off- after they were on for a while or (off for a couple hours) mine seem to clear up fine...notice theres an open breather hole in the top of the reflector...too bad they didnt seal them up with a bellows-like plug to allow expansion without breathing...
naa mine had to be replaced they looked like crap. note to all of you if you get them replaced take out aftermarket bulbs if you have them,. ford ships the fog lights with bulbs and my dealer kept my aftermarket bulbs. on ce i realized it it was too late parts were sent back.
TexaSTang, I guess you're right...I know that I rarely use the fogs on my Vette...BTW, tomorrow I pick up my new ('06) Windveil GT to replace my '02 V6 Coupe. I can't wait...I've had an '87 LX 5.0 and an '89 GT in the past.
I just had mine replaced, I have 6000km's on my car. I was freakin' out at the dealer cause the guy started to remove the front bumper!
When I got home I looked at the work instructions and it says you need to do this, I thought (based on what I've read etc..). That it just slid out of the bumper.
I feel like a bit of an a$$, but what can you do.

No sure why it would have an effect, but sometimes they put grease in the socket of some bulbs to keep moisture from getting in there. I dunno, just thinking out loud, never had the bulb out on mine
