Fitting a Ford Racing strut brace with BBK plenum cover?

I'm trying to figure out how to get the Ford Racing strut brace to fit over my BBK plenum cover. I can't use spacers on the strut bolts to raise the brace because there is not enough thread exposed to fasten the nuts. I was thinking of cutting (milling) two channels in the BBK cover to allow the brace to sit inside but don't want to trash the cover. Does anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Hmm...that's a good one... I don't have any idea. How much clearance is there between the engine and the cover? Could you maybe lower the cover by removing the washers?

Maybe raise the cover up with spacers, and make your holes in the sides. That way the STB would pass under the cover. Of course, your cover would probably rub on your hood liner if you did that.

I have the same STB and the factory cover. I read somewhere that people lower them by altering the anchor points. See here

You may also want to consider removing the fuel rail studs, and then reinstall them over the plenum cover fastners. This will lower the plenum cover by around 1/8-1/16th of an inch. Just my $.02
