Looks like he took the spoiler off the Ford GT and put it on the Mustang. Maybe Ford didn't want to go COMPLETELY retro

I actually have not seen this chop before either. However since the real pic from motor trend is on my desktop, I know better than to have wishful thinking. Honestly I think Ford missed the boat on this one. No titanium silver, no Lemans stripes, no ducktail...hmm..what else is missing?

I wasn't aware that Ford ever considered a ducktail for the '05.
According to this article, they did:

"Larry Erickson, a member of Ford's Living Legends Studio, is the current chief designer of the Mustang...While the front end looks like it was lifted from the '69 Mustang, the tail doesn't end in a ducktail, something they are still arguing about, according to Erickson."

If they didn't want the ducktail, they could have at least made the spoiler mimick the old Mach 1 spoiler. It almost looks like they took what they had and threw it on the back of the new design.

It appears they did just that, and that is why my 05 will have the spoiler-delete option.
